From this week's Entertainment Weekly about Antonio Banders:
"While he admires 'typical Broadway actors' like Bernadette Peters and Nathan Lane, he really wants to costar with someone he knows a little better: 'I want to work with my wife on Broadway!' "
Yikes!
I don't know about you, but I sure as sh*t be there for their opening night in 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf'.
Antiono needs...that weekly PROZAC pill, me thinks!
the only revival I can think of that might possibly fit them would be BELLS ARE RINGING. FRANKIE & JOHNNY THE MUSICAL maybe (just to see their "body of work")? WORKING GIRL THE MUSICAL with Harrison Ford's part retailored for Banderas? Mel's movie of the other Judy Holiday vehicle BORN YESTERDAY was not horrible (just didn't make money) perhaps a revival of that, but again retrofit for Banderas.

For some reason I don't think Melanie will be able to fulfill her contract for her upcoming show. In fact, she may even pull out at the last minute with one excuse or another. I just think it takes enormous emotional stamina and self-confidence to star in Broadway production, and I don't think she has this. For a person with drug dependency problems, the stress that doing this show would entail could trigger a binge for her.
At least her husband is so supportive of her. I would find that kind of relationship suffocating myself, but to each her own. Maybe she'll surprize us all.
good point about her technique. Some do find the discipline of live theatre to be overwhelming, but some do find it transforming. Even 12-Step programs are a kind of religion/ritual, which to me theatre can be also. And very few AA meetings end in standing ovations!

I like the idea of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" But if we're gonna cast real couples in it, how about Michele Pawk and John Dossett (2 nice people playing 2 such pathetic creatures). Would be very interesting.
How about "Misery" the Musical with Banderas in the James Caan part & dear wife Melanie in the Kathy Bates part
that is funny about MISERY. But I do think Antonio would make a good Billy Flynn. They could come back to the show as a couple in NYC for big tourist times: summers or holidays. The PR from the Amy Spanger/Philip C. Hall coupling but even bigger!
Just think, Mel & Ant could become the Steve & Edie (or the Lucy & Desi) of the 21st century!
LOL Philip C. Hall?? Is that a cross between Philip Seymor Hoffman and Michael C. Hall?
" de gun, de gun, de gun... she wreaached for de gun!"
" geeve im de ould hrazzle dahahzzle....shown dem da furs class sourceer ju are... "
Please be serious....
MOLJUL you got me. I did mean Michael C. Hall. And I'm partially serious, MAX. Just like your namesake, actually.
