The Humans recoups! Possible off-Broadway transfer pending...

Congrats to all involved- a nice and rare Broadway success story!! I didn't personally care for the play myself...

It could work at NWS in their largest theater.

The little Shubert on 42nd? Is that still the name of the venue?

GreasedLightning, I think they're referring to the atmosphere of NWS which is sort of a dungeon. At least to me, that's why I wouldn't pick NWS for The Humans.

To piggyback onto what GreasedLightning is saying, I also don't think the larger stages at NWS are all that dissimilar from the Pels, and The Humans certainly didn't feel out of place in that space.

Because why spend the money to transfer AGAIN to another sought after Broadway house comparable in size that they are currently not filling night to night when they can transfer somewhere smaller and play to full houses every night for smaller cost?

They had their best selling week last week, but remember it was one of the ONLY plays playing on Broadway that period.

There was a mention of it in the original posting of the article with a shoutout to Rudin's moving of and continued success of The Flick last year, but has since been edited or removed as has the title. The link title shows the original title of the article but if you click through you see the title has been since changed.

ETA: Most other articles on the recoupment announcement (Deadline, Variety, etc.) mention the possibility of another move or just a closure. Yet to be determined.

I'm not sure what off-Broadway house could handle it? I mean the set is two stories, so need good site lines. I mean Stage 42 is a great size, and it's only 499 seats. But it does feel larger.

Peter and the Starcatcher started off-Broadway NYTW, then transferred on Broadway to the Brooks, and then went off-Broadway to NWS.



It's not unheard of to go back and forth from off-Bway to Bway and back. I think Humans would do fine at NWS.

what about Minetta Lane?

I think it would actually do nicely at the Barrow Street.
