Personally, I want Jaime Camil to play Kevin and Auli'i Cravalho as Nina,"
that could possibly be false. cause lin wants latino legends and latino unknowns for this movie and i highly doubt that they would cast an unknown for the part of kevin. it has to be a big name. and on top of that, he doesn’t even sing.
That IMDB page isnt being monitored so it seems anyone can link themselves as they please plus Rita Moreno is still listed for Abuela Claudia and it was confirmed months ago shes not in the film. I think Joseph Velez might have read for the role but his agent or even a fan must have tagged/credited him on the IMDB to help his cause. Anyone with an IMDB account can tag anyone. Their fact checking is pretty much zero.

From their BREAKING news article (spot the unfortunate typo)!
Leslie Grace is a singer/songwriter. Her mainstream debut hit "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" was a bilingual cover of the sh*t Shirelles song. She has charted on the Billboard Tropical Songs chart, and the Latin Airplay charts.
Looks like they’re going the Crazy Rich Asians route: a relatively obscure cast, with sales relying on the strength of the material/marketing and Lin’s involvement to sell it. But I’m glad they’re casting talented people!
not super excited that all 4 of the young people are relative unknowns (disregarding Anthony Ramos’ recent ASIB featured role most of America doesn’t know him), i’m legitimately shocked none of the 4 are big names or perhaps recording artists who also act
will we be looking forward to an absolutely star-free cast?
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."

the movie’s cast will be a mixture of broadway stars, latin stars, and hollywood stars.
Well, the 1961 film adaptation of WEST SIDE STORY was a major motion picture from the get-go and Natalie Wood was the only major actor in the entire cast. Rita Moreno and Russ Tamblyn had film creds but weren’t at the level of stardom that Natalie Wood was.

Corey Hawkins may not be a household name, but he's certainly not unrecognizable. Between Straight Outta Compton (a massive hit), The Walking Dead (a massive show), his starring role on 24: Legacy, films like Kong: Skull Island and BlaKkKlansman that were hits, he's definitely a face that many people are familiar with.
Leslie Grace, on the other hand, is pretty hot in her genre. Her song Duro y Suave has almost 300 million views on YouTube. There is a large group of people who know she is. The kind I'm sure Warner Bros is looking to market this film toward.
Remember, these characters are young. I can't imagine being able to list off young Latinx stars between the ages of 18-30 who are "big names" as you put it.
daphne rubin vega as daniela is a no for me. i am not a fan of her singing. she has a strong voice but it isn’t the best. and rhenzy as sonny does sound interesting but he isn’t even a singer. olga reprising her role jn the movie would be amazing.
OMG!! they got Olga to play Abuela!! I'm already crying.
