DW, I'm just a huge fan. I saw it back in March. And can't wait to see it again Memorial Day weekend. But when I got home to Boston. There seemed to be little love for PS, except for J. So thats when the PSLove Thread began. And here we are today.
Well, my thought was that TOO many people signed up for the mailing list, and they can't fit us all, so only the people who can figure out the next step get invited?
Did any of you guys catch Stew's interview on NY1's On Stage?
DK Now there are some people who have mistakenly called PS a rock musical, but you’ve taken issue with that..In fact, you wrote in an article that I saw, that to you, the most terrifying words in the English language are rock musical.. Why do you say that?
STEW Well primarily, because the musicals that have been described as rock musicals, to me is not really rock music..or it’s rock music with quotations around it. By rock music I mean, I don’t think it’s music that any self-respecting rock band would actually listen to, when they weren’t inside of a theatre. In fact, probably a lot of self respecting rock bands might not go to see that music in the theatre..so for me, rock music is something that music people listen to.
That's such a slap in the face! Not to me, but to SA and RENT.
I really liked the interview in general, especially when he talks about how rock sort of disappeared for 40 years from the theatre after HAIR, even though it is so popular in mainstream, and that this musical is music that they would actually play. As a lyricist, it made a big impression on me.
Just got the newsletter about the cast recording session. Here's the important info:
Please show up at the Belasco Theatre at 1pm sharp to be eligible in the lottery to receive a ticket to the recording that will begin promptly at 2pm. We will begin a drawing at 1:20pm and winners of the lottery will be able to enter the theatre beginning at 1:30pm.
For a $20 cash donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, you can be a part of the LIVE audience for this rare, bare-bones recording session. No lights, no set, no costumes, no scenes from the play. Just the music...just THE REAL.

Also, Broadway.com has 50 tickets that they're giving away to the first people who e-mail them. More info is on their stageblog.
EDIT- Broadway.com is out of tickets now... Updated On: 4/11/08 at 03:21 PM
broadway.com is apparently OUT of all the tickets..Lottery it is. Oh well, if I don't win, then I guess it's just not meant to be.

VERYC, I wouldn't take all this *marketing* all too seriousoly. STEW is just trying to distinguish PS from other shows. I'm sure the marketing team is making choices now regarding demographics....
