Yeah, but you made it sound like you didn't know Gabriella Pizzolo was already set for the Luker concert.

I did know. I just don't want Sydney to lose the chance to play Mary over this Equity disagreement.

Nor do I ..but you obviously can't do it at someone else's expense.

Clearly tone is not readable on this board. I was joking.

"If they don't reach an agreement you could probably ask for a refund based on buying the ticket because of Sydney Lucas being announced as the star and her no longer being involved. They may deny it, but of course that would just bring more bad press to the whole affair."
As far as we know, she's still attached, right? This has been unexpectedly complicated. I kind of wish I'd saved my money for the Rebecca Luker concert instead.
It seems like it, but they haven't tweeted in 10 days. I'm sure Sydney Lucas' people aren't letting her say anything right now either.
And I'm feeling the same way about the Luker concert.

She is still attached, although the lack of a contract is going to make this event pretty much "toxic waste" in the community so my bet is that her people will withdraw her. From what I understand, there is a lot of distance between AEA and Manhattan Concerts on this one. Maybe the spotlight will force an agreement. I'm on AEA's side on this one BTW.

I think we're all on AEA's side. We want the actors to be paid fair wages for their work. MCP needs to get the message that they can't have big name stars for their non-benefit concert without properly compensating them.
Since this isn't until next year, is there enough time for this to get ironed out before we find out it's canceled/"postponed"/cast with non-Equity seniors from a recent showcase?

It is possible that something can be worked out, it just depends on how open both sides are. I'm not privy to the negotiations, so I don't know which side is digging their heels in harder. I do know Equity has spoken to them in the past and ultimately let the issue slide because of the benefit aspect of the concert, so I'm curious as to what has changed this year on the producers' side that has caused Equity to say it does not meet those guidelines this year.

Take this with an ENORMOUS grain of salt, but I've heard whispers and rumors that the financial representation in regards to the allocations of the donations to charity are becoming suspect. Again, rumors, and supposition, but it might explain why they want their membership to have a bigger piece of the pie.

I wouldn't be surprised. It's not like there is anyone at the AEA independently auditing the event so there is no accountability or method of verification. That's a shame.

I don't remember the MCP concerts ever claiming to be benefits. Were they? I always thought they were for profit.
Daisy has just joined the Rebecca Luker concert as a special narrator (and they have added a second date for that one).

Well that's exciting. I would love to see Daisy again...happy I have tickets.

Any new developments here? I'd hate for this concert to be derailed (especially after shelling out a good chunk of change for tickets).
Wow. More casting news for the Lortel concert: http://www.playbill.com/news/article/exclusive-max-von-essen-joins-rebecca-luker-and-daisy-eagan-for-secret-garden-benefit-369873
And meanwhile, not a peep from Manhattan Concert Productions.
Since I can only go to one of the two, I bought tickets for the "Grand" one. Now I feel like just lost a gamble.
In trying to skirt union rates, Manhattan Concert Productions really shot themselves in the foot.
Well I just bought a ticket to the sanctioned production, so I'll at least get one Secret Garden concert in the cold and dreary midwinter of 2016.

Ah, hell, with the last few good mezzanine tickets disappearing, I decided to just bite the bullet and get a ticket for the Rebecca Luker/Daisy Eagan concert. The money is going to a good cause. And I'm in the last row so at least I can ask for a cushion or something if another incredibly tall person is seated in front of me.

Max Von Essen from American in Paris and Tamika Lawrence who will be in the Wiz (and has been in Matilda & If/Then I think among other things) have both been added to the Luker version.

FYI, the do not work notice for the Geffen Hall production now says contract pending. http://www.actorsequity.org/newsmedia/TakeAction/DoNotWork.4As.asp
Thanks for that! Now I guess we can see how gasp-worthy this cast is (esp compared to the other).
