Smash is no where near ready for Broadway. Boop has barely geared up rehearsals. They aren't theatre shopping when there's a line of 20 shows trying to come in.

What producers are going to line up to give Smash their money after the same team lost their shirt on SLIH.  SLIH probably should have closed at Labor Day.

What's the latest on this?  I was thinking Crazy For You, Betty Boop, or The Great Gatsby could be possibilities.

I don't think Paper Mill's Gatsby is coming to Broadway right away. It needs A LOT of work. London's Crazy for You needs a Thrust Stage so Lincoln Center would be best for that production. There are rumors of Jamie Lloyd's Sunset Blvd. coming to Broadway. The Shubert would be perfect for this production.

Agree on Gatsby. But Crazy for You doesn't need a thrust stage. It basically plays the Gillian Lynne like a proscenium stage.

I think Charlie Stemp mentioned in an interview that they use the Gillian Lynne Theatre as a thrust. As someone who has been to that theatre, it gave me vibes of the Vivian Beaumont at Lincoln Center. Besides, this production would do great at LCT. This season is really crowded with musicals. I would say maybe transfer Crazy For You next summer. Have it go to the Beaumont after Uncle Vanya closes. The Shubert would be better for Sunset Blvd., especially if they want a nice space to do the outdoor scene in Act II. Shubert Alley would be perfect for that!

As someone who has seen Crazy for You at the Gillian Lynne, the thrust is negligible, barely used, and not nearly as significant as at LCT. They would have to change the staging significantly more to adjust for LCT than at any of the proscenium houses. I don't much care if or when it transfers. I found the show rather boring despite the immense talents of the cast, Stemp in particular.

As someone who is gonna see Sunset in coming weeks. I would have appreciate much if you had put the description of act 2 under a spoiler filter

It’s really not a spoiler when videos of Tom Francis walking down Strand in have emerged on social media. Besides, I haven’t seen the full production and I bet there are more pieces of the show that are spoilers.

Dylan, you did nothing wrong but some people do not have social media and like to avoid any spoilers. Typically people on this board are extra careful with that, which is why the spoiler tag was created. But, I agree that that specific thing is not much of a spoiler.

Thank you, Sutton. I did not mean to sound rude if anyone was thinking that. Like I said, I have not seen the production. The whole Act II opening scene is captured by onlookers walking down the Strand in London. My original point was that the Shubert would be perfect for this particular production because of Shubert Alley. Plenty of space to do that scene.
