Isn't June 7 the first preview, not opening night?
Yes June 7th is the first preview. June 19th is the critics opening night.

How likely is it that this will be on Broadway by spring of 2017?

OK, you may want to edit the subject line, then.

I'm attending the first preview. I'll post my thoughts here as soon as I can. Really looking forward to it.
I'm attending the first preview as well.
Broadway in Chicago announced today a limited number of seats for each performance at $25.00...
Did anyone go or know anyone who went to the invited dress last night?
I'll be there tonight too.

Responses on Twitter were very enthusiastic from those who attended final dress. Check the show's official Twitter for some of them and you can just search Spongebob musical, I'm sure.
We should have a meet up during intermish

I'm very interested in how this show will do, please report back.
THIS SET....
Is that good or bad? From the pics it's hard to tell exactly and the dark blue lights make it hard to see certain aspects.
I think the lighting effects they're using look beautiful.

I'm seeing this Saturday the 18th. If anyone who sees this can tell me how long it roughly is when it's done, it would be appreciated. Going to the matinee, and would like to make a dinner reservation afterward.
Intermission. It's colorful, manic, visually creative and in need of a plot. I find myself staring around at the massive set during the show. The kid (he's probably 13) sitting next to me was watching the first thirty minutes then he got bored and turned on his phone and was texting or whatever. That would usually bother me but I felt sorry for the kid because he was obviously bored with the show...as was I. I chuckled twice. The costumes are pretty outrageous and interesting. They remind me of Whoville. I enjoyed Pee Wee Herman on Broadway but I'm just not digging this.
Obviously this is just the first performance. I think they just threw in everything at once to test it out. I'm enjoying many of the songs, but there is this rap song that just DOES NOT work. the set beyond the curtain reminds me of the last ship set with the arches from the wicked set.
Love that they built out into the house. Is there an overarching design/directorial element? Like what do the ensemble look like? Mr Crab etc?
Did they have any merchandise?

I saw people wearing "SpongeBob" bucket hats after the show.

I think the overall design/directorial elements is the use of real world materials. Like they use shipping boxes to represent a volcano an pool noodles to represent coral.
Hm. Don't hate that idea. But for a big budgeted Broadway musical? Eh.
