If THE WIZ comes this season, we will have six musical revivals competing for four slots in the Best Revival of a Musical category.
With THE WIZ, we'd have:
COMPANY A CHORUS LINE THE APPLE TREE 110 IN THE SHADE LES MISERABLES THE WIZ
Not to mention more competition in the acting categories!

well, I can't imagine Les Miz or A Chorus Line being nominated so there's my top four. then, obviously, if one of them closes prior to the tonys then it probably won't be nominated.
THE APPLE TREE is a limited run, as 110 IN THE SHADE will be opening in the same theater (Studio 54) following THE APPLE TREE. None of the other shows will close until after the Tonys. LES MIS will absolutely get snubbed a nomination (In fact I think it will be completely shut out).

I hope it comes for the sheer fact that I want to hear Nikki M. James sing on another recording. I love her voice. It's like "butta." Surley all these shows opening this fall can't all be successful. I really wish well for the Tharp musical, but it doesn't seem to be getting any attention. (That's not to say it isn't selling well...) Updated On: 9/15/06 at 12:45 AM

Tharp, honey. Twyla Tharp. But we knew what you meant.

I wonder if the cast is gonna dance around in dance belts for "brand new day" like they did in the movie. Just wondering. I mean it's supposed to be a 2006 version right. wonder what they're gonna do. That # has got to be Hot especially if it's done in the now. I wonder if it's going to be MTV esque. I must disagree with you rentboy, I wouldnt mind Times... closing soon after openeding. Especially if it meant The Wiz coming. And i doubt Les Mis gets a revival nomination because its exactly a replica of the original. And id love to see ACL get snubbed but thats doubtful. I dont care as long as Company wins revival tony since sweeney didnt.

As much as I would like to see this I think it shouldn't come to broadway. Because then we would have Wicked and The Wiz. Do we really need two shows based on The Wizard of Oz on broadway at once? I mean, I know they are two completly different shows but even though they aren't really the same they are The Wizard of Oz!
I hope that makes sense.
