Swit appeared on Broadway three times (DROOD, SAME TIME NEXT YEAR, and ANY WEDNESDAY) and played Agnes Gooch in the national tour of MAME. She was also active in regional and summer stock theatre into her eighties, including shows like the title role in MAME, Miss Mona in WHOREHOUSE, Dorothy Brock in 42ND STREET, LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE, and SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS.

Of course, she is best known for her Emmy-winning role as Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in M*A*S*H.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

By chance, I actually ended up seeing Loretta Swit in a production of Six Dance in Six Weeks in Buffalo about a decade ago. It was, y'know, not great. But I met her afterward and she was truly very sweet. M*A*S*H reruns were a staple in my home growing up since it was my dad's favorite show and I have to admit to being strangely affected by meeting her in person because of it.
