The one time I find out who's going on a head of time and that they're the ones I'm dying to see, I can't go. So, how was Tanner and David?
*sigh*

They were both very good. I maintain that Tanner is a totally different Billy to the other 4 I've seen and I openly admit I liked him even more this time than I did on Sunday.
Looks like they are really pushing David B. to do a ton of shows. Poor Frank, but I guess I understand why --- to make sure Tony voters see him, but still. Both Frank and David should've been nominated, and then they could've continued splitting the week.
I think both boys are fabulous - but I completely disagree with this view. In order to nominate both boys, the BE producers would have had to petition the Tony Committee to consider the 'Michael' boys for the same special reason they wanted the 'Billy' boys to be considered. It was the incredible physical demands of the part that mandated that it be shared by 3 boys. How can you possibly say that about the role of Michael? He only has one big number, one much smaller scene in the second act, and just bits and pieces in the rest. To say that this was just as demanding as the role of Billy is so ridiculous that it would have resulted in the 'Billy' petition being rejected. The producers were just as shocked as anybody else when David was nominated for such a small role.
Sorry to change the topic but I've got a question hopefully someone can answer. If I plan on rushing Billy on a Wednesday night, does anyone know about what time I should get to the theatre? Is the rush impossible? I know tickets are distributed two hours before the performance. Any recommendations? Thanks!
I saw the show for the first time yesterday and thought it was great. Trent was a wonderful Billy, and David Bologna and Carole Shelley were fantastic as well. I'm still thinking about it, especially "Angry Dance" and the Ballet Sequence in Act II--what amazing dance numbers!
Wed Eve: Billy: Trent Michael: David Small boy: Michael
Perfect evening considering I saw David A, Frank, and Mitchell last time.
Can't decide which Billy I enjoyed more, they were both fantastic, and seeing two outstanding Billys affirmed to me that they deserve the Tony.
Jbara didn't blow me away the first time, but this time was like a different character. N
David B was outstanding. When I heard he was nominated for a Tony I was confused since I didn't think the part was worthy of a supporting actor Tony after seeing Frank. But this kid is so memorable.
I love this show too much, which is crazy since the music is just eh for me
Broadway is coming to Toronto to look for the next Billy Elliot.
Representatives from the hit show Billy Elliot: The Musical announced Wednesday night that they will hold an open audition for boys who are strong dancers, aged 9-12, for the roles of Billy and his best friend, Michael, on Saturday, June 13.
I'm hoping one of the new boys will be on next Saturday night. The others will all be performing at Radio City the next day and the voting will be over, so it would be a good opportunity to put one of them on.

There's a terrific article in today's NY Times about the choreography in today's nominated (and non-nominated) musicals. It has some wonderful things to say about Billy Elliot.
