ouch to the west side story comment...but different opinions make the world more interesting!!
i dont know what the WORST is, but i definitley find the gas song from little shop to be annoying. i skip it every time.
edit- also there is no song called the most delightful thing in little women. there is "i'd be delighted" and "the most amazing thing"

The producers that face
Save him please, just save him
My poor Boq, my sweet, my brave him
Don't leave me till my sorry life has scene
Alone and loveless here, just the girl in the mirror
Just her and me, the Wicked Witch of the East

neo, to each his own. I guess I just had some bad childhood experience with WSS that I can't recall. The only song I can listen to is "Somewhere".

"Johanna" from Sweeney Todd makes me cringe"
"Just about anything from West Side Story"
Like 2 knives in my heart...
"ummmmmmmmmmm about everything from CAROUSEL!!!!"
Soliloquoy? If I Loved You? You'll Never Walk Alone?
Do you people want to send me to an early grave?! Kidding. Of course, everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
Anyway, I've only heard some songs from Wicked, and I have to say that I found "Dancing Through Life" mind-numbingly repetitive, and it seemed like it lasted about 3 days. I'm sure it's not the worst out there, but... jeez.

I might be the only one in the world, but I can not stand "Tomorrow" from ANNIE. It's strident, loud, screamingly repetitious and drives me crazy.

2nding the "Neat To Be A Newsboy" from Working. Did a high school production of that show and it was the target of much aggravation from the cast.
Others would be "Delighted I'm Sure", "Man Of Means", "Love's A Bond" from Sondheim's "Saturday Night"
Much as I love the recording, "Do It Alone" and "My Child Will Forgive Me" from "Parade" I could both do without.
"By My Side" from Godspell isn't exactly my favorite song either.

Grizzabella, I don't hate "Tomorrow", as so much I am sick to death of it! We first got cable TV in 1980, and that song was the only thing WPIX would play during the commercials (New York loves ANNIE!") They played, EVITA, 42nd STREET, PETER PAN, and A CHORUS LINE as well, but none of them as much as ANNIE.
Praying Decca Broadway will put "Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope" on CD!

Even more obnoxious than "Neat to Be a Newsboy" from WORKING?
Oh, dear God, that is a BAD song.

Rent!:
The song where Angel introduces himself. "Today 4 U." What a stupid song, it literally makes me embarassed (as do the following 2 songs.)
"Over The Moon"-the mooing is too much for me
And the one where they are having sex (I guess?). I cant even pick the title out of the list. I think it's rather pointless, and again embarassing. (As In I'm embarassed for the performers, and also when I'm listening to it in front of other people who don't know Rent.) I always skip over these songs as fast as friggin possible.
Oh and when Mimi moos at the end. Also thoroughly embarassing and stupid.

"Could You", "The Most Amazing Thing" and "I'd Be Delighted" from Little Women make me cringe. I also hate most of Evita and all of Sunset Boulevard.

OUCH! You're killing me!! Really though, I can understand being embaressed by Contact (the sex song you referred to) but everything else you mentioned makes perfect sense in the context of the show, but I admit may not come off as well when it's just plain listend to on cd. See the play and you'll get it!

Yes, Melissa Errico Fan, you can't help but to hate a song that talks about throwing newspapers in the bushes and the bushes go "BO-OING!"
BUSHES GO "BO-OING"?! What are they made of, springs and rubber?!
Steven Schwartz must have been high when he wrote those lyrics!

I think Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote "Mr. Mistoffelees" just to make me want to shoot him.
Uhm, and "Neat to be Newsboy." It is a stupid song. Luckily the production of Working I was involved in got the most adorable little kid to sing it. People were too busy going "awwwwww" to realize he was singing utter crap.

I actually LOVE "Could You?". I don't know, I thought it was pretty good.
Dancing Through Life has ridiculous lyrics. The melody, I thought, was enjoyable. As someone said before, especially the "We deserve each other" harmonies.

i agree, but i think t.s. elliot actually wrote the lyrics because the whole show is basically his poems written into song.
anything from CATS really!
but the most horrible is any of the songs from "they're playing our song," shoot me now its a painful expirience to listen to them let alone watch them on stage!!!!! i saw a production this year and ewww!!

Yep...Clambake takes the Cake. It's the worse one I can think of. Unless we're focusing on melodies...
Unless we're getting into Princess Diana the Musical territory.

"Agony" is one of the few songs from INTO THE WOODS that I do like! I find the lyrics hilarious. But to each his (or her) own.
Even though PARADE is probably one of my favorite shows and scores of all time....sometimes the song "The Picture Show" gets on my nerves. It is cute and all...but I am from the south and I think the accents are a bit overexaggerated and unrealistic.
I also always skip "Today 4U" when I listen to RENT and "Miss Baltimore Crabs" when I listen to HAIRSPRAY. Oh yeah and I want to add "Do Re Mi" to the list of songs that become annoying because you hear them ad nauseum.

The Creation of Man, The Scarlet Pimpernel
The Rap, Starlight Express
I feel so embarrassed for the universe when I hear both of those songs.
