On several recent episodes of TheaterTalk on TV, Jesse Green has been the substitute host. He is fantastic and adds background and intellect where there was none before. He asks questions that stimulate conversation and when Jesse is on it is very interesting. I wish he was the permanent host, or someone, give him a show.

I just watched the Fiddler episode and I highly agree. He is a vast improvement over the childish Michael Riedel.

I have found Jesse Green's critiques to be top drawer in every respect. But I'm afraid he would be too civil, that he would lack the show biz smarts - to attracted a decent following on television. Even PBS!

Taking Tom5's thoughts to mind... maybe a panel of three is the solution? Riedel, Haskins, and Green?

Personally, I think Jesse Green is a little boring as co-host. I also think he sometimes tends to overreact. I'm Team Riedel all the way!

Not a Green fan either. Yes he is knowledgeable but he comes off as nasty and full of himself at times. Just an opinion. If you like him great. He just is not my cup of tea.

You could have a cactus cohost the show and it would be a more thoughtful presence than Riedel.

I can take or leave Riedel. Say what you want Razzle Dazzle is an enjoyable and informative read.

Can he replace the dull as dishwater Haskins instead?

He also just wrote a great piece on Peter Stone in his column.

She reminds me of a schoolmarm in those old westerns.

Her questions are a hell of a lot more intelligent and relevant than his. Hard to tell with how condescending he is and how frequently he talks over her. The man does not understand almost any of the shows he sees, he is poison in the community, and he is reliably incurious.

I love Green and Riedel for the completely different energies they bring to the table. That's why I live for the critics round tables every few months.

I like the guy in the middle who wears the cool sweaters.

Caught him this weekend and enjoyed the show. He let's Haskins talk. I like it whenever he is on.

^ yeah I feel like Michael R is super rude to Susan. It's unnecessary and childish.

Haskins' love of theatre is infectious and joyful. She is a great host - asks interesting questions too!

I think I'd enjoy Haskins more if she were a little more assertive. Riedel always cuts her off and rarely lets her speak.
