Corine, that's exactly what I was going to suggest!
It's one of my favorite places. Even if it's chilly out, the Rainforest exhibit is nice and warm!

You can usually get discounts to Madame Tussaud's, but it isn't for that much.
Every time I go into the city, I sadly do the touristy things that are around Times Square. I commute into the city by train, so when I see a show, I just make time for the show and a quick bite to eat, with a couple of hours of free time, so I don't really run all over the city.
I also kill a lot of time in Virgin and Sephora.

Grab some grub and have a picnic in Bryant Park.
You're seeing 2 broadway spectacles in 8 hours, I think doing something a little more chill/less stimulating for the 3 hours between will help you to enjoy both shows.
Nothing kills seeing a show more than having to run from up(or down)town back to the Theater District in order to make curtain.
Take a leisurely lunch in the park, maybe go to a B&N, browse some books, grab a coffee then head to the show.

i'd honestly suggest a nice dinner in between shows to relax and unwind. I'd say Carmines, AMAZING family-style italian across from the majestic theater.

I'd say windowshopping. How about The Strand bookstore. amazing, but you might've been there.

Tony DiNapoli's serves family style if I remember correctly and is a bit less touristy than Carmine's.
I would disagree in that a "stroll" through Chinatown is most likely the most stressful thing one could encounter.

My favorite thing to do is the CP ZOO. I love watching the penguins, the red panda's and the big polar bear swim.
The Central Park Zoo with a picnic in the park is great if the weather is nice.
The Red Panda's are adorable and so are the penguins and Polar Bears. Whatever you do, enjoy.

This is off-topic, but one time me and a few friends went on one of these "strolls" through Chinatown. One of the people I was with was looking for a wallet. Well, we were walking down Canal Street...for anyone who doesn't know, Canal Street is filled with people trying to sell you fake/stolen luxury items, such as Louis Vuitton purses and Chanel sunglasses. Anyway, he came across this huge guy who offered to sell him a Louis Vuitton wallet for $20. My friend was interested, but wasn't sure if he wanted to buy it, so this guy told us to wait while he walked across the street to get it. He walks back with it, and my friend begins studying the wallet to see if he actually wants it. The guy gets anxious and says, "What do you expect? It's a wallet, it's there, look it's nice..." or something to that extent. Anyways, my friend eventually decided not to buy it, and the guy gets really angry and says "I could've gotten arrested if anyone saw me with that" and started to threaten my friends so we just walked away. Be careful in Chinatown!

Well this happened yesterday. TonyVincent, what did you end up doing? I saw this thread late. I was going to suggest a walk and then hanging out in Grand Central Station and having a bite to eat there. I have done that the past 2 times I have been there. Walk through the market and the main entrance to t he station and then downstairs and have a bite to eat. I killed about an hour and a half there this past December when I was there.

I guess I'm too late too -- but I love Union Square Park best of all
The Farmers Market is there on Saturday, and if it's nice out on Sat and Sun there are usually lots of artists there with really great stuff (I almost never leave without something from one of them)
And there's a nice Barnes and Noble right there at the park
The Strand Bookstore is just a block or so away, and the ABC Homestore
And it's super-easy to just take an NRQ train right from Times Square down to 14th, it's only like 4 stops
Plus, it's a great place to just hang out, read, or watch the dogs in the Dog Park
I spent most of the early afternoon there yesterday, before my 3pm matinee

Thanks for the posts and suggestions. I live in Manhatten (UES) so many of the ideas posted are a bit far or things I'd rather do other times when I have the

They're within a 20 minute walk. Central Park Zoo, Chinatown, and Lincoln Center aren't. Sure, you could grab a cab, but what fun is that?
Well, you say there's a lot to do, I'm looking for suggestions, other than crowded, overpriced stores and restaurants :).

I usually go to Battery Park(by taking the subway) and kill time there. And I always go on the Staten Island Ferry. Actually I did this yesterday while I had almost 4 hrs to kill before my show started. If you need time to kill after the show go stagedooring. I did that too yesterday and almost missed my 7pm bus back home because of it. I went to see Wicked and it was over at 5:45 so I thought, plenty of time to meet everyone. Stephanie was running a LiL bit late coming out but I got to meet her and the rest of the cast and made my bus with 5 minutes to spare.
