Tennessee Williams, born March 26 1911. What is your favorite quote from one of his plays?
Here are some of mine: Happy Birthday Tennessee Williams: "Everybody Is nothing until you love them."
I don’t want realism. I want magic.

This, but with the lines that follow:
“I don't want realism. I want magic! Yes, yes, magic. I try to give that to people. I do misrepresent things. I don't tell truths. I tell what ought to be the truth.”

Ad to think that I assumed that EVERYONE was going to select 'Whoever you are, I have always relied on the kindness of strangers'.

Well, that's a stupid thing to do.

A bitch is no match for a lady except in a brass bed, honey, and sometimes not even there.
The decline of the Western world began with the invention of the wheel
Youth must be wanton, youth must be quick,
Dance to the candle while lasteth the wick.
Lead them beside still waters because you know how badly they need still waters
"Time goes by so fast. Nothin' can outrun it."
Can someone tell me if...
"El Paso. Yeah, I like El Paso. Air-conditioned cocktail lounges, 15-to-1 martinis, mirrors that don't scare you when you look at 'em. Don't you worry about the Widow Faulk. She'll have a ball!"
Is that in the play version of The Night of the Iguana or only in the movie? God, I love Ava Gardner!
Don't hang back with the brutes!

Thanks for the quotes.
I have seen only one of his plays on Broadway ( Glass Menagerie with Jessica Lange and Christian Slater) and since I am not a resident to the USA, most of my access to his work was mostly thru film adaptations of his work (Streetcar Named Desire/Cat on a Hot Tin Roof/ Suddenly Last Summer/Night of the Iguana, from my recollection).

I do not remember that. Can you tell me what it is from?

Some things are not forgiveable. Deliberate cruelty is not forgiveable.
I've always loved:
"We all live in a house on fire, no fire department to call; no way out, just the upstairs window to look out of while the fire burns the house down with us trapped, locked in it".
“Mendacity is a system that we live in. Liquor is one way out and death's the other.” - Brick
