>But this production is ENTIRELY different from the Lansbury staging. I could see if it was just a restaging, but it certainly isn't. If this is the case, I'm going to petition the Wing and the Leuge to make him elligible. I doubt my letter will work and I know it's Arthur Laurents, but when someone does good work, they deserve to be recognized.<
He did good work for the Tyne Daly production too. He wasn't eligible in 1990 for that production, and he won't be for this one either, in spite of its differences from his previous productions.

I would like to see Ian McShane nominated as Max in The Homecoming.
I am rooting for Jim Norton. He was just fantastic in The Seafarer.

Great site though, but I disagree with a lot of your musical predictions. Besides the mistakes of putting people in the wrong categories in the play predictions, my only qualm is that Rosie Perez stands a very good chance at a nomination for The Ritz in the featured category.

I'm not sure that Young Frankenstein AND Little Mermaid will get choreography nods over Xanadu. I don't recall the critics liking either as far as the dances.
PLEASE! Do not post anything negative or dramatic! DidYouReallyHearMe has LOST the ability to ignore such posts and he will comment! Please, help him.
With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

No Olga Merediz for Feat. Actress in a Musical?
Who says four chairs and a keyboard can't make a musical?

two things...
"Little Mermaid" gets a nomination in Choreography? really???
Robin De Jesus WILL/SHOULD get a nomination for supporting character.

I might not agree with all your predictions, but it's a great looking site.
Call the understudy / I can't go on tonight / I'm drinking with my buddy / I'm getting good and tight / Before they raise the curtain I'll be higher than a kite / So call the understudy
I can't go on tonight

Cheyenne should be in the Best Actor Category and not Stew. Nice website, although there are many people left out. I don't think Sutton Foster will get a nod, as Megan M or even Andrea Martin have a better role, in my opinion. I think Jackie Hoffman and/or Mary Testa should receive some nods as they were both fantastic!

Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman were brilliant, so I wouldn't be surprised if one of them got a nomination.
Cheyenne Jackson, on the other hand, I doubt will get a nomination. He's the best Sonny, and has an amazing voice, but just the role itself doesn't seem like it would get a TONY.

"He was nominated for the Lansbury production. He cannot be nominated again.""
"He did good work for the Tyne Daly production too. He wasn't eligible in 1990 for that production, and he won't be for this one either, in spite of its differences from his previous productions."
Nope, you're wrong....James Lapine was nominated for Best Director of a Musical in both 1988 and 2002 for Into the Woods. I believe it is up to the committee to decide if the production is "different" enough to warrant another nomination.

I like this site A LOT, but I'm gonna have to agree with the various corrections that people have stated already, especially Mary Testa's nomination.

I'm going to go ahead and disagree with your predicted winner for Best Actress in a Musical.
There's something wrong if it goes down like that, IMO.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if there is an upset in that category, last year's Leading actor in a Musical for example?

Some considered Patti losing in 06 an upset. I doubt it will happen again. AFFAIR has terrible buzz, even if Faith is amazing it's still going to hurt.

Absolutely, Blaxx. It could go any which way. I'm just saying that, in my opinion, this award should go to Ms. LuPone and I'm truly hoping (and pretty confidently thinking) that it actually will.

It probably will. I haven't seen Gypsy yet, so my vote currently goes to Jenna Russell.

I wouldn't really consider her losing as an upset. That year, nobody really had an idea for Best Actress in the award season due to the fact that Christine Ebersole sweeped all awards previous to the Tonys. I see ties for Best Actress in the Drama Desk this year, which will also leave speculation right up until Tony night.

On what? Broadwayworld?
Outside of the limmited confines of this message board A Catered Affair has a bigger advance than Cry Baby and most people love it. And, even if they don't love it they all have respected it for its brave attempt. I don't know if you only read BWW, or what, but A Catered Affair has AMAZING buzz, especially within the industry.

Mungo, I think you're confusing seasons? The year Patti lost wasn't Ebersole's year, she lost to LaChanze.

ATC has a lot more people from the "industry" and there is still a lot of negative buzz there. Listen, I want to the show to be really good. I would like to see it. But I just don't think it will be this years PIAZZA or GREY GARDENS, like some hoped for.

Read into that review thread that start with "tries to deliver" or something. There are some great reviews for the show later in that thread from other respected posters. If anything I would say A Catered Affair has Hate It or Love It buzz. And I think most in the theatre world are really rooting for and looking foward to it.

verynewyorkcurious,
I hear you. Jenna Russell's performance in "Sunday" touched my heart. Any other year and I'd be rooting for her to take the win. Patti LuPone's work in "Gypsy" just takes the edge for me.

Knowing your taste in shows you will probably like it. Which, isn't a bad thing. I have been reading ATC VERY closely and the number of good posts for it out way the number of bad ones. And even the bad ones say they respect the show even if it didn't move them at all.
The Light in the Piazza had a VERY similar reaction over at ATC when it first opened.
It just seems from your posts that you hope the show doesn't do well so that Faith doesn't beat Patti.
