Her mudda and fadda make her do that awful accent, I bet.
And what's up with that last Matilda? Not to be mean but, y'know.

Posted: 5/28/13 at 12:14pmI'm pretty sure (from several things I've heard) she's had reconstructive surgery on her face. I'm not sure when or why. She's a great little performer though!

I wasn't the biggest fan of it during the show, but I loved Lilla's accent in the promos- she and Laura were a riot. I'm surprised how much attention Lilla and Annie are getting, given nominations, but I'm happy for her!
The Matilda thing was rather creepy.

They might as well have gotten Mercedes McCambridge to do the dubbing.
EDIT: And I do wish Lilla would stop sounding like Chachi from Happy Days.

Posted: 5/28/13 at 1:23pmI think these look ridiculously low-budget and have terrible writing. They remind me of local TV commercials.

Posted: 5/28/13 at 1:48pm^The commercials are adorable. But so are the Matildas, and there was no reason to dub them.

Mattbrain, thanks for posting.
CBS - what were you thinking? It's a disgraceful decision. It's so obvious - the V/O is older than the actress playing Matilda and is very poorly done. Mind you, they subtitled Princes William and Harry in a interview for CBS news so they have "previous" as my London friends say.

Posted: 5/28/13 at 2:40pmI think it's a travesty, nay a crime against humanity. I hope that castration and/or female circumcision is in the cards for whomever it was that signed off on these. It's appalling. Appalling, I tell you. I think we should collectively boycott the show this year to teach CBS a lesson.

Posted: 5/28/13 at 4:44pmI'm in the minority, I'm fine with the accent just because I think Lilla's a good actress regardless....but again, never mind the fact that this is some of the worst dubbing since Turkish Rambo, it's pure BS that these kids were dubbed period!

Posted: 5/28/13 at 4:54pmPerhaps the dubbing of the Matildas had something to with their diction (or lack thereof)? It seems to be a huge bone of contention with the show.

Posted: 5/28/13 at 5:22pmI'm sure the girls could have handled saying one line on camera with good diction. I understood every word Bailey said when I saw her during her first performance. This seems a little extreme and unnecessary.

Posted: 5/28/13 at 5:42pmThe comments about diction in many threads were to do with not understanding lyrics during songs. The consensus seemed to be that it was more down to two things - bad sound and complex lyrics - and not the diction or the accent. I doubt the Matilda people would have sent the girls without having them work on the minimal lines.
