You bought tickets to the Tonys because you thought Christy would have been nominated? I'm sorry, but that's a bit of a stretch, no?
Not exactly, but I was rooting for her! I saw her in Spring Awakening in Costa Mesa, Carrie and Mamma Mia. She is so talented and sweet. So excited she originated a role on Broadway I wish her the best.
I didn't enjoy Dear Evan Hansen, Comet and Falsettos so it feels like I got no skin in the game. There's no underdog or any dogs for that matter. :)
But super excited for the shows I have planed for my trip in June!
Allison Janney is brilliant as Ouisa. I'd put her in over Ehle or Field (I didn't see Blanchett).
Gideon Glick was devastating and hilarious, and I would not only have included him, he would be my choice for the winner. Of the nominees, I'm torn between Hawkins and Arndt.
And worst of all: no nomination for Richard Topol giving an astonishing performance as Lemml in Indecent. He's transcendent. And to see him left off in favor of particularly hammy, indulgent performances by DeVito and Lane is such a disappointment.
On the musicals side, there are folks I wish had gotten in (Caroline O'Connor for Anastasia; Barrett Doss for Groundhog Day), but honestly, I disliked most of the musicals this season enough (Dear Evan Hansen and Groundhog Day being the exceptions) that I'm not especially miffed about any of those nods.
Disappointing omissions: Roxburgh was the fired-up engine of THE PRESENT, Glick the heart and soul of SIGNIFICANT OTHER, and Cordero put the pizzazz in A BRONX TALE.

It's a small category but honestly, the biggest surprise for me was Sunset Boulevard not getting nominated for Orchestrations. I get the rules with 4 Best Musical nominees but I would have liked to have seen 5 in a season this full of musicals. We've certainly had years where lesser musicals than Bandstand, War Paint, and Anastasia got nominated. I know there has to be a consistent rule, I'm just saying...
Thrilled for Denis Arndt receiving the nomination, but beyond disappointed that Gideon Glick was snubbed. One post said shows that have already ended don't do as well at the Tonys, which is mostly true. But how could Arndt be remembered (and I'm glad he was) and represent the only nom for Heisenberg while Glick was forgotten. It's the type of snub that makes me question if every Tony voter sees every single show eligible before voting; if they don't, then they should abstain from voting in that category.
Crying over Christy Altomare's snub... LOL, Eva Noblezada highly deserves that spot over her giving a far better more dignified performance. I found Christy's performance all around flat and as for the show it deserves just getting Costumes and Featured Actress for Ms. Peil!
Jon Jon Briones now was really snubbed for not getting nominated over Christian Borle!
Btw, the nominating committee doesn't make their decision based on reviews!

"HA being sweet doesn't make you deserving of a Tony nom! Eva's performance is far more worthy!

Wow! It's almost as if people have different opinions!

Please read posts properly. I said that I found her performance worthy aside from anything else but was extra sad for her because she seems like a nice person.
I thought Christy was more deserving than Eva, you didn't. I'm sure we'll all be able to move on.

No more crying about Allison janney being snubbed ..she has been nominated and won emmys she had no business being near. Maybe now she will feel the same horror that those poor real funny people felt when she got called for an Emmy for MoM.
I'm upset Anthony Azizi didn't get nommed for Oslo. Nothing against Jennifer Ehle, Jefferson Mays or Michael Aronov, but I thought Azizi brought an inherent honesty and decency to the role (as well as enough of an edge to remind us he's part of the PLO). But I thought for Oslo to work you had to trust that Abu was negotiating in good faith and I thought Azizi was tremendous. Upset he didn't get a nod.
