Oh, and I thought Nick Cordero had a chance for Featured Actor nomination.
Funny how Jon Jon, Christy etc. got nominations for DD and OC while Eva, Denee, Josh etc. didn't get nominated for them, but got nominated for Tony's. supposed that's the reasons why they got snubbed?

I know that because Great Comet was considered for past years it was left out but did that mean that their performances were ineligible as well even though they were not a part of the original Off Broadway cast?
It stinks that Warren Carlyle was deemed ineligible for a Best Choreography Tony. But at least he was honored at both the Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other than that, great list of nominees all around.
Janney, Glick, And Mary Louise Parker are my only shockers. I would've loved more love for sunset. The new orchestrations are beautiful. Otherwise, as expected. I'm kind of surprised in regard to the outrage of Briones, Price was hard to beat, which is what critics basically said.
Personally? Christy Altomare and Gideon Glick.
Overall? I feel like in a year of a record number of musicals, a fifth nominee for Best Musical not being included just seems wrong to me. I know it all depends on number of votes and the politics of it all, but it just seems silly in my opinion.
A friend who is a Tony voter rather liked MISS SAIGON but said he thought Briones's performance was 'indulgent' and in particular mentioned that ad-lib line about "Make it great again" during the American Dream as being a turn off example. Perhaps some of the nominating committee felt the same way.
When I saw "The Price" I knew Danny DeVito would get a nom, but I'm shocked that Jessica Hecht, Mark..no other noms at all? This was a real surprise ? It looks like they are saying he carried the show..?
Also John Goodman WAS "The Front Page"; he really was snubbed. So many "star" roles in TFP, Sheri, Holland, Slattery, Mays, Lewis J. S. cancel each other out but John G !!
lots of women's performances were so worthy in a tough year, especially..Britain, Amber, Caroline O'C.
I thought six degrees was terrible so I'm surprised it got any nominations at all.
I thought Glick was better than Hawkins or Kline.

I agree. It is not so much about being snubbed as it is about not making the cut.
Really upset that they didn't give Sunset the 4th spot. I mean the reviews all seemed better than the original production - Lonny Price has taken this in a completely different way then Nunn did - just the fact that they've employed 40 musicians for the orchestra you would think would be noteworthy. I mean I undestand forgoing Cats as it's basically the same production that originally ran (with some slight new choreography) - but this is really a slap in the face.
Perhaps there's still anti-ALW bias on broadway - who are pissed he has 4 shows running...

She plays herself in everything. Guess they saw that.

Gideon Glick, Allison Janney, Christy Altomare, Mark Ruffalo, Anastasia for book and score
Mary L Parker not getting nominated is NOT a shocker. Not one of her stronger performances.
Michael Xavier definitely deserved a nod. Shame he didn't get one. Also I thought Corey Hawkins was dreadful and he got a nom?!

I'm upset about neither Amber or Brittain getting a nom (but as a Great Comet fan you could imagine I'm generally very happy right now!), but it's understandable – my best guess is that half the voters went for Amber and half for Brittain (maybe a few for Grace mixed in there), and they ended up cancelling each other out.
Also a little surprised about Anastasia only garnering two noms. I'd have thought Christy would have gotten nominated over Eva, and I was expected a Set Design nom as well.
And I wouldn't consider it a "snub" since they had such an outside chance to begin with, but I would have loved to see Henry Shields or Dave Hearn pick up a second nom for The Play That Goes Wrong.

John Goodman gave a good performance, but, sorry to say, Nathan Lane *made* that show. He didn't appear till about halfway through the night, but the second he stepped on stage, it was hysterical.

I feel the same way, especially since Christopher Gatelli was eligible for the recent King and I revival.

I thought Goodman gave one of the weaker performances, and was far from "being" The Front Page. If someone other than Lane was nominated, I would have thought it would be Mays.

This guy didn't leave the stage for over two hours and gave, IMHO, a beautiful, touching performance. I almost feel like not watching the ceremony. I won't name names but there are 2 nominations in that category that I don't get. And I saw both of them.
Nothing left to say. Except, shame on you whoever does this "nominating"."
Oh, MARY!!
Confused why Come From Away was nominated for Choreography as well.
Sometimes I have to remind myself: opinions are like a*holes...everyone has one. RIGHT? HA!
