1. Bad things come in threes
2. It seems odd to you? You mean, like there is a conspiracy that someone is bummping off ex b'way talent?
3. Maybe god wants some good entertainment and is doing a production.

Yes, the passing of Sada saddens me as well -- I remember being in awe of her when I was young. Such a stoic presence.
I am suprised that she was "only" 83...would have figured her to be much older.

Posted: 5/6/11 at 5:32amI remember seeing Ms.T on my first NYC trip, when she was starring in (and winning a Tony for) "Twigs". Not much of a play...but oh what a delight was she onstage. And in "Family" (her Emmy-award) she brought a really original woman to the little TV screens. More young actors should see her work (including the "Skin of Our Teeth" film) to note the difference between "honest" and "performer-y".

I loved her in "Family" on TV, and later in "Our Town" as Mrs. Gibbs and "The Skin of Our Teeth" as Mrs. Antrobus. I also loved seeing her (briefly) in "Pollock."

I also loved her performance in "Twigs"---a wonderful actress.
And "Family", to me, was largely about Sada, as a caring matriarch. R.I.P.

I've always been impressed with how she could express the music inherent in the author's dialogue. Listen to her speak Wilder's words in OUR TOWN and SKIN OF OUR TEETH, it sounds like song.
A true talent.

Thanks best12bars for the video of the opening credits for a great show w/a great cast that was probably one of the first dramas on TV that made me shift my viewing habits from comedies to dramas.
I have special love for her when I saw her at the Old Globe in San Diego several times:
1st was in "Times of My Life" by Alan Ackybourn in 1985 with Peter Krause who was very young;
2nd was her wonderful performance in the classic "Driving Miss Daisy" in 1989 w/Ed Hall and OG fave Bill Anton = ***** show;
3rd was in "The Show Off", a comedy in which she was hilarious. My very favorite was "Mornings at Seven" in 1993 in which four aging sisters (she was one of the four) living in a small Midwestern town in 1938 deal with ramifications within the family when two of them begin to question their lives and decide to make some changes before it’s too late. It was another ***** show with an all star Old Globe cast many of which went on to Broadway and were future Tony noms!
RIP Sada! The great theatrical moments you gave me will be with me forever!

How sad. Family was one of my all time favorite television programs...and I just loved her. I remember being a kid and wanting to have her as my mother and have Gary Frank and Kristy McNichol as my brother and sister. I saw her in many other productions, and I always found her to be very classy and extremely talented. She will be missed.
