Is Denee above the title too?

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Just because he's eligible doesn't mean he'll be nominated.

Either way, that wasn't the point of the post. The question was "how many times has this happened" whereas the post's subject was that it was interesting that a director was nominated twice for directing the same show.

Just saying!

Lapine should be eligible. He directed the show is a completely different way.

Happy that Stephanie J. Block is staying in Featured - she'll actually contend there. If they pushed her to leading the chances were slim. Also interesting that they kept all three DEAR EVAN HANSEN women featured. Some part of me thought they might try to push Lauren Dreyfuss to Leading (it's a supporting role - but still thought they'd do it).

Well, we dont know what the producers may have tried!

The only thing I'm a little surprised about it Groban.

Groban in Lead makes sense to me- it's not a massive part, but he does open the show and the last 25 minutes are mostly his showcase. Plus, were he in Featured, he could split the vote with Lucas Steele, who is probably the best chance they have for an acting Tony win.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Everyone in FALSETTOS was below the title, which is why they petitioned Borle for Leading Actor. Because there was no mention of Block, she will be considered a Featured Actress!

For those who find it odd that Pierre is considered a lead, how do you feel about - to name just one example of commonly designated starring roles that for large parts of the action remain out of the foreground - Desiree's lead status in A Little Night Music? Desiree may be more "central" (as she's the main bridge between the Armfeldt, Magnus-Malcolms, and Egerman households) and her arrival in town incites the narrative. But It strikes me that the roles are about equal in relative critical stage time (leaving aside that Pierre is almost always on stage if not in action), and also that Pierre is as pivotally demanding an acting role and certainly far more demanding vocally.
