Did anyone actually go and wait at the delacorte today? I'm curious to know how early people arrived.

Will Hugh ever appear in a Shakespeare play - either at Central Park or on Broadway...or in London?

He was classically trained and he has spoken about doing something with Trevor Nunn at one time.

I have never attended a production in the park. How many tickets are approximately handed out in the general line? How rare is it to get a standby ticket? Thanks

What about the virtual rush? How many seats do they give out for that?

I'm back from the first performance! I loved it. It was just so much fun. All the actors were absolutely wonderful; they really seemed to be enjoying themselves. I particularly enjoyed the music and was glad that the musical theatre people were able to do some singing. The set was simple, grass with some hills and trees, but it worked well. I'm too tired to write a more elaborate response, but I had a great time. The running time was exactly three hours (started at 8:10pm, ended at 11:10pm).

Ha.Mish. Link.Later

God I hope he stays around in New York and doesn't go back to LA.

He was quite possibly the most adorable thing there is. And he is one tall drink of water.

I have two quick questions.

Could you tell me where the line starts? I've never waited at Central Park, I was always down by the Public.

And for those who've seen the show: are there any gunshot or explosion like sounds/effects?

I have a huge phobia so I want to be "ready" for it.

Thanks a bunch! I'm so excited about it!

mrfreeze i don't recall any gunshots or loud noises. there is some hilarious sword fighting, tho. and you'll see the line when you get to the delecorte theater. it starts almost in front of the BO window and continues up the path. you won't miss it, that is unless your the first person. then feel free to start it however you'd like lol.

and did anyone else here see hugh jackman? i stayed in the theater during intermish. i can't believe he was really there!

Yeah, he was there. As was that man with the curly hair who was Darlene's boyfriend in Rosanne and I believe is now on The Big Bang Theory? Or is it How I Met Your Mother? One of those. I don't really watch either, but I've seen the commercials I just can't remember which one.

Thanks so much for the quick answer!

I'm planning to go there kind of early. ( thinking 1-2am,maybe earlier) I think they don't really let you inside the park til a certain hour right?

Hugh Jackman walked into the theater behind me. I thought it was cool that he was there. re: Twelfth Night - Shakespeare In The Park

MrFreeze, I don't think you need to get there that early! Yesterday I heard a couple of people talking in the audience; they had gotten in line at 9:00am and still got tickets. I know not every day is like that, but I think 6:00am-7:00am is generally fine.
I'm not sure, but I think they open the park at 5:00am and you line up outside the park before then. Someone else should confirm that, though.

I'm glad people are liking it, but can the admittedly impatient get a little more than that it was good? When is it set? What's the direction like? Does the fact that nobody is talking about the cast in remotely specific terms mean they're actually not that good and you just don't want to say bad things, or you just didn't feel like posting a lot?

I don't think that you can line up at the box office as early as 5 am. If I remember correctly, prior to about 6 am, patrons had to wait along Central Park West and 79th or whatever the cross street is....

Emcee beat me to it!

There are a number of more in-depth, positive responses to the production on All That Chat.

Julie White, apparently, is the weakest link. It sounds like she doesn't know what she's saying. Same for Anne Hathaway.

Esparza did a "characteristic loud yell?"

I also really, really enjoyed the show! This was my first time seeing Twelfth Night, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but I really enjoyed everyone's performances, especially Audra, Raul, and Hamish Linklater. I really didn't think either Anne Hathaway or Julie White did a bad job, although I could see how Julie White's character probably could get more laughs. But for a first preview, I thought the cast was solid. Also appreciated that a lot of the actors got to sing. I'll probably go back to see what the cast is like after they've done some more performances.

Completely off topic regarding performances, but did anyone else see the raccoon that tried to jump onstage? I didn't actually believe Raul when he said in that interview they were warned about them...
