What's up with the mediocre numbers for Rocky? I suspected the name alone would sell it from Day 1.
And Bridges can't last much longer with those sales.

"What's up with the mediocre numbers for Rocky?"
I don't know. Maybe, 'Mamma Mia' should have stayed at the Winter Garden and the people behind 'Rocky' could have figured out a way for the set to work at the Broadhurst.

Interesting to see Motown closing the gap with Kinky Boots
Not worried about Rocky-Jersey Boys-similar demographic- was pulling 55-60% through previews-
then took off after opening night.

If/Then opened well. Les Mis and Aladdin had a strong week as well, Mamma Mia! seems to be picking up numbers wise as is Chicago after a rough few months.

Posted: 3/10/14 at 3:37pmI guess I fit into that Rocky-Jersey Boys demographic, baby boomer from NJ, but from talking to people around here not many are interested in seeing a Rocky musical, but just about everyone I know has seen and loved Jersey Boys.

Posted: 3/10/14 at 4:10pmI dunno. Unless Rocky gets pretty incredible reviews, we'll see. With ticket prices the way they are, I'm not 100% convinced it'll sell. (Jersey Boys got raves. Rocky needs those.)

“Bridges” may still be low but going from 38% potential gross last week to 46% this week is a good sign. Hope it’s telling of a growing word of mouth and continues on the upswing. Really love the show and hope it finds its audience.
Also continually surprised by “Rocky,” which is one I thought would do fairly well right out of the gate. (Although, I’m sure those grosses will jump once tourist season begins).

Posted: 3/10/14 at 4:42pmI think even reviews are bad, Aladdin will probably run for 18 months to 2 years, I imagine when Frozen is ready to come to Broadway, Disney will close Aladdin and put Frozen in the New Amsterdam but the earliest it could come is 2016-2017.

Posted: 3/10/14 at 5:10pmJersey Boys is a great musical with fantastic music. Rocky is an awful show with horrible music. The show at the Broadhurst????- Have you seen Rocky?. The sets are huge and over the top. There problably isn't room in the wings for the staircase or any of the other set pieces. It should have stayed in Germany.

I expected If/Then to start off strong. Menzel has a big following. We'll see what the grosses look like after it opens.
And Aladdin has a HUGE advance. Even if it's as bad as The Little Mermaid, I think it'll run slightly longer.

"I imagine when Frozen is ready to come to Broadway, Disney will close Aladdin and put Frozen in the New Amsterdam but the earliest it could come is 2016-2017."
I think it's very early to predict that even though the 'Frozen' musical is already in the works. Disney Theatrical said they are not in a huge rush to bring it to the stage. There's always a chance that 'Aladdin' will have a run like 'Mary Poppins' did. Plus, 'Hunchback of Notre Dame' might come to Broadway and if it's not successful, 'Frozen' could take its place.
If 'Frozen' where to take 'Aladdin's place anywhere right now, it will probably be it the Hyperion Theater at Disney's California Adventure, where 'Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectular' plays. There is already a rumor of that happening.
Should a “Frozen” musical replace long-running “Aladdin” stage show at Disney California Adventure in Hyperion Theatre?

This made me do a spit take: "Menzel has a big following."
Only between 14th and 23rd Street on the West Side.
