I bought tickets to Frozen for June 19 during the presale, Mezz A, dead center. Yay! But unfortunately I must've used all my Ticketmaster luck because neither my husband nor I were able to get a code for the Cursed Child during either presale. I have three choices:

1. Go as planned and enjoy Frozen. Wait to book other shows to keep our Cursed Child options open and obsessively check Ticketmaster, running the risk of our other shows being sold out because we're going right after the Tonys.

2. Go as planned and go ahead and book our other shows. I know my girls would love Mean Girls and The Band's Visit if Tony Shaloub is still in it. I'd love Carousel and My Fair Lady. They'd be happy to see OOTI or Spongebob too if time and my bank account allowed.

3. Scrap the June trip and wait til Summer 2019 when I'll have more flexibility in getting Cursed Child tickets. The disadvantage here is that none of the shows that have been announced for 2019 (and I know it's very early) are as appealing as the ones I just listed. On the other hand, a trip to NYC next summer fits with my "every few years" scheme better since we were just there in 2017. If we do go this summer, we will definitely not go in 2019 so we may miss Cursed Child entirely.

Obviously, this is a question for my family, but I was hoping to keep it a surprise. I've just spent the entire day reading posts and hoping to get off standby and will probably spend tomorrow refreshing Ticketmaster looking for non-existent tickets. I'd planned for it to be their Christmas present and then I just knew I'd get tickets this time around and it would be a Valentine. Any thoughts from other theater fans would be appreciated!

June 19th is a Tuesday, and Harry Potter will be dark on Monday and Tuesdays after opening night in April. Harry Potter has the Friday 40, where 40 tickets for $40 for each performance of the following week will be released. Granted that will probably be hard to get, but it is still an option. Even though it will be summer, I don't think it will be too difficult to book The Band's Visit, Carousel or My Fair Lady once you get to the city. And Spongebob is a rather easy ticket to get. I'd wait and see how other shows play out in terms of ticket sales. Also, t looks like they held back tickets for the general public sale, so you can still try Harry Potter tomorrow.

Yes, I booked Frozen on Tuesday, a night Harry was dark, on purpose. Monday would be our travel day. The only thing I didn't think through in advance was the possibility of NOT getting Harry tickets!

HP is not to be missed, it's worth trying to see that over your other choices. It is that good.

Do you not have Thursday night as well? Just Tuesday and Wednesday? If you have Thursday, I'd go ahead and book either Mean Girls or The Band's Visit and wait and see about Wednesday.

Yes, we have Wednesday, Thursday/Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And it's not ideal, but we could go the previous weekend, ending our trip with Frozen.

I was absolutely dazzled by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Its quite the time commitment, but it was over way too soon.

I doubt you'll miss Harry Potter and the Cursed Child if you don't see it this visit. I suspect it will be around for a very long time. Also, once the show opens, there will be additional opportunities to grab seats. Of course, there's always London... okay, I know that wasn't helpful.

I'm sure HP will be as amazing as the peeps here say...however, it will be playing for quite a few years, I'm sure.

My suggestion would be:  Hope to snap tix tomorrow, but if that proves unfruitful, go ahead an plan your trip.  And then hope to get tickets for the next time you CAN be there.   If it were me, I'd be pretty unhappy losing opportunities to see the other stuff that you will likely still love, just on a maybe...and a maybe that will likely NOT happen.

Even with airfare and hotel,  it'd probably be cheaper to see it in London!!

Or you can come to Melbourne! Although I think your odds would be better in London.

I’ll add that I had no issue getting TKTS tickets to OOTI in January and there were plenty of empty seats too.

Could you hear my squeals from Alabama? I can't believe it. My hands are still shaking. $199, orchestra right O 30-34. I'm sure it's way against the wall but we are going!!! And it's a bargain because it's the same price I paid for Hamilton last year, but this is really two plays instead of one. (Ok that's a lie. It's not a bargain.) But we're going!!!!!!

AWESOME! I was thinking of you and i am so glad you got tickets. this is going to be an amazing trip.

I forget how fortunate i am to live so close. My daughter is in Chicago now, when she comes home to visit, i cram in as man shows as we can afford in that time.

Are you sure you got tix for both parts?  I've only seen 199 PER PART....so 398 for the whole thing/per person

Yeah, over $1200 total with fees. And I've drunk the kool-aid enough since not getting a code in October that I'm still thrilled, lol.

Thank you! It's probably for the best that I live a good distance away. Hamilton last year was supposed to be a once in a lifetime trip and now just a year later, here I go again, lol.
