"Agreed, Wicked is not what I would call a subtle musical, his styleis what's needed. Plus I think after Crazy Rich Asians and In The Heights, I can forgive Jon Chu for that catastrophe called Jem and the Holograms."
Holy God I BLOCKED that movie out after I was dragged by my younger cousin to the theater. Thanks a lot for the reminder!!!

It’s possible that doesn’t get off the ground though. Apparently the pilot was so poorly received they’re reworking it right now. If that doesn’t go over well then they might abandon the project.

Dove Cameron said they just need to recalibrate the tone.

Maybe that’s true, but I’m pretty sure whether the issues are major or minor, the stars would try to downplay them at this stage.

Jon Chu hasn't even started auditioning people yet

Taron Egerton as Fiyero and Daniel Radcliffe as Boq. I don't care who else is in it.

Filming, which was originally set to begin in March 2022 in Atlanta, has been pushed to June 2022, with a relocation to the U.K.

The project does not have an official green light and is technically still “in development,” although the Wicked film’s producers — Marc Platt, who also produced the stage iteration, and David Stone — and director Jon M. Chu have been told to proceed full steam ahead.
So even this new update is spec info as it is technically still not officially green lit hence why no official confirmation has ever been announced.

I hope they get some Broadway people in the cast

Honestly though, how will this movie stop from being corny? That's my question.
By all accounts the show is more akin to a Disney animated film in terms of how they use the songs.
Elphaba on green screen on a broom singing defying gravity-no matter how well CGI-ed that is I just don't see how it wouldn't look sorta stupid.
We need to not be afraid to adapt broadway shows into animation if that lends itself to the story better.

Marc Platt is producing? So we'll have Ben Platt as Elphaba? Yay!
