Verge Cast Recording Update? — Page 3

^ I don't really believe that. People always start rumors about Sherie being unhappy and "phoning it in." This always happens with her. But I saw her this past weekend, and she wasn't phoning in anything. Her performance has grown and it was probably the best I've seen her. She also looked very happy with the cast at curtain call, dancing and smiling. Sure it's possible she might be unhappy with the role, but would she really take it out on the rest of the cast and not record it?

BUMPing yet again. O theater gods, make them record Women.

I also would really like this recorded....
Other than Sh-k boom/Ghostlight, is there any other record companies that might take this on? its such a fabulous show, i hope they don't just leave it.

A recording of the Elf score would really be great for insomniacs. It's the most bland, generic set of songs I've heard since Summer of 42.

The corporate producers of Elf say it will get a cast album when it returns for the 2011 holiday season. Let us hold them to that promise then.
Meanwhile we want a Women cast recording!

There's talk that the VERGE album may get recorded but with someone like Dinah Shore singing Sherie's songs.

Dinah Shore back from the dead! Now that would sell some albums!

How hard is it to understand? Whether Miss Scott or her husband would like to take this on they are NOT going to be paying for it - unlike even a decade ago, 90% of today's cast albums are financed by the producers of the show. Apparently Lincoln Center has no interest in losing, oh, another quarter million dollars on top of the considerable amount of money they've dumped into this thing. Unless they or someone else pick up the tab and then just hand it to a label, this will not be happening - ever. The one thing we know is that Ghostlight or PS Classics would not spend that kind of money.

Bryan already passed on it so it is officially dead.

Would it be possible to petition for this kind of thing? It's a lot of money, but after seeing that Facebook group get Betty White on SNL I think you can practically accomplish anything. Especially a show that will be mentioned often whenever a show has complicated sets or shaky preview weeks. Boy would I love to hear the songs for myself! (That 9 minute BWW video was not sufficient!!)

I saw the show a second time and asked people at the theater what the update was. All of them confirmed that they were told that it would be released at the very end of January...thus, possibly just a little after the show closes.

But it hasn't been recorded yet. If this does get recorded though, I will be beyond happy and grateful.

Me too, ljay! Fingers still crossed for this one.
I emailed the folks at Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight last week asking about it, and they told me to "stay tuned".

The Overture is part of the show, people. Please shut your pie hole.

Interesting. I want it for Lovesick & Model Behavior alone.

Yeah. I really liked the Act I closer, "On the Verge", too. And... well... anything that Patti sings.

Risking the wrath of the thread-BUMPing police to ask yet again for a recording.

Based on what y'all on the board have said about shows getting cast albums or not, I would rather have a recording (both cast album and Great Performances) of Night Music with Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch than this show to be honest. Just sayin'. As much as I love Patti and Sherie and the rest of the Verge cast, I read from a lot of posts that the score wasn't really good; it doesn't mean the performers aren't good. But I haven't heard anything from the show, so...
