My fingers are still crossed. I know I sound like a broken record, but this score is worth remembering. I have a strong feeling that this show will have a place in Broadway history, I just don't know if it will be good or bad yet. But I don't think it's going to be forgotten.

I caught the show a second time last night and really liked the score (defects and all). It's a shame it hasn't been recorded, particularly since its a new original score, which is rare these days.
Does anyone have any information on a possible recording? What angelic producer can we petition to finance the recording?
I'd appreciate any responses or private messages. The show is messy, but i love the score. Thanks!

If I had the requisite money I would. Ask Dollypop - he's loaded.

This is exactly people take it upon themselves to preserve these scores. And thank God they do.

Laura Benanti posted on her facebook that there *will* be a cast recording!

Ahh!! I hope that's true!!
I've noticed recently that, toward the end of the production, there was a huge attitude change toward the show. So much negative buzz came from previews and it just stuck for the remainder of Women on the Verge's run, but people have really been a lot more positive now. I hadn't seen the show since the tail-end of its previews, but after revisiting recently, I noticed that the cast had made an enormous change. They toned down the accents!
Sherie sounded absolutely wonderful and I wasn't at all distracted by her accent as I was in October, and the rest of the cast sounded much better, as well. I think the audience really was turned off by those poor attempts at a Spanish accent earlier in the run. I'm not sure if the creative team was at all responsible or if the cast just gradually reduced their speech impediments since opening night. Either way, I'm glad it happened and I enjoyed the show that much more because of it.
I hope they keep the accents to a minimum on the recording, too. I'm so excited and I can't wait to buy it!

If true, great news to start the new year.
I doubt if this was preserved for the Lincoln Center library.

Could someone post a link to Benanti's facebook page where she posted this? (I'm assuming it wasn't a private page if she was posting an announcement like this on it.) I can't seem to find a facebook page where this was mentioned and now I'm skeptical. I really want this news to be true!

Apparently, they are recording for Lincoln Center today.
From Luis Salgado's Facebook:
"As we perform and record for the Lincoln center archives. I extend my love and value of work to all 5 Broadway shows closing today: FELA!, West Side Story!, Promises Promises, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and all my friends here at Women on the Verge! Let's rejoice that the universe brings an opportunity to start fresh and that we have gain the experience of such thrilling journeys. Keep your LIGHT shining, MAKE ART!"

She did not post anything about it on her Facebook fan page.

It was on her personal page, which is not public. The public page is run by a fan.

Laura didnt make it an announcement, it was only a comment on her status about closing the show.
I dont know if this link will be private, but those of you who are friends with her on this account will see it.
"Thanks guys! There WILL be a cast recording so that is nice!"
Status...she states it in one of the comments

In an email back from Kurt Deutsch:
"Working hard trying to make it happen. Looks good."
"The problem with verge is that the record will cost upwards of 200 thousand dollars and since the show is not running there will virtually be no way to make the money back. So we need to look to angels in the lincoln center non profit world to help us get the score preserved. I am still hopeful it will happen."

this is fantastic news!
Now all we need to do is hope that it *really* happens. i remember how excited i was about hearing that 'Gypsy' would be filmed, but that never happened.
Fingers crossed that they actually DO make a recording!

How much would a recording cost if it were just released digitally?

Just saw the final matinee. At the stagedoor, Stokes said there's a 90% chance the album will happen. He said it's in negotiations and looking likely!
I am so unbelievably happy about this!!
