Impossible casting, but Goldie Hawn would make a spot-on Phyllis.
Bernadette Peters as Phyllis.

I'd love to see George Hearn play Roscoe
How about John McMartin as Theodore Whittman? It'd be nice to see someone from the original cast.
I could see Patti LuPone as Phyllis, but I doubt that'd happen.

As much as I love George Hearn (and yes, I do love me some George Hearn), he doesn't have the high notes for Roscoe. He's a baritone - Roscoe is a tenor.
If Anthony Warlow was a bit older, he'd make a magnificant Roscoe. It's a shame that part was never developed more - he gets the best song of the night, and only on stage for 5 minutes.
I was gonna say that about George Hearn. I thought he was a terrffic Ben back in the 80s, but maybe it's time to give the role to a new actor.
If they cast Bernadette or Patti as Phyllis I'm booking my flight that minute...I think Vicki will be fabulous Sally.

If the rest of the casting proves as inspired as this choice, I hope this gets a recording. This show deserves a GOOD, complete, "definitive" recording. (Though nothing beats the OBCR, it's woefully incomplete...)
Vicky is terrific casting for Sally.
And WOOT to whoever said Kitty Hart for "One Last Kiss." That's genius.
There already is a complete recording. I can not imagine that this will generate another FOLLIES cast album, unless they get a couple of big names in there.
FOLLIES is overdue for some kind of television broadcast though. The Philharmonic production, of course only produced that behind the scenes documentary. I don't know that this will be the version that makes it to television, but I wouldn't rule it out.

Bernadette Peters would look too old next to Vicki Clark's Sally, I'd love to see her play Stella just to hear her sing "Who's That Woman?"
Donna Murphy would be an ideal Phyllis, especially with Clark playing Sally.
I've heard many suggestions for the female characters but none for the males? Who could play Buddy or Ben?
Ah.
Howard McGillan as Ben.
Tommy Tune as Buddy.
Think about it.

I love Tommy Tune, he's probably my favorite male performer and my favorite director/choreography, but if he was almost old enough to play Buddy in the original Broadway production, doesn't that make him too old to play the role now? Not that I care a lot, he'd make a fantastic Buddy.
I actually think Jason Danieley could be a good Ben, his rendition of "Too Many Mornings" is beautiful.
Men tend to age well. Yes, Tune is about 5 years older than McGillan. But it's rather irrelevant for "Follies." They're both perfect casting.

Tommy Tune is 67 yrs. old and Howard McGillin is 53. At nearly 70, I'd say Tommy's a little too long in the tooth, but since the production is more or less a fleshed out concert version, you never know.
