No other casting announced yet. Clark will probably be wonderful, though there was a part of me that was hoping they would go with more legendary names rather than Broadway staples. It will be fun to hear who else turns up in this.

You don't know how I yearn to hear Loretta Swit sing "I'm Still Here".
She actually kind of makes sense in that role, Dollypop. She should get her agent on that: she could at least do it at Beef n'Boards dinner theatre.
Oh, I think that's wonderful news!
She'll be fabulous!
Great choice, but hardly a surprise. A blind man in New Jersey could see it coming.
This bodes well for this Encores production. Her "In Buddy's Eyes" will gorgeous.
The casting of "oldsters" can never again approach the excitement level of the original production: With the exception of the occasional Polly Bergen, any performers with the kind of authenticity of the original cast are too old...or too dead.
I think that the thrill of having a cast full of Ethel Shuttas or Mary McCartys, all making comebacks, doing the kind of material they used to do, are gone. Why go on attempting it weith diminishing results.
Better that they cast superbly talented younger performers like Victoria Clark, who can bring their talent to the material.
That said, I'm praying they ask Kitty Carlisle Hart to be in it. "One More Kiss," perhaps?
Come on, who else besides me wants to see Charlotte Rae nail "Broadway Baby."
I smell the return of an avatar.
and I'm not joking, by the way. Rae is one of those women Pal Joey meant, I think. Ok, so she's a bit "young" to have been there the first time around, but she's one of those gals we have now and I'd kill to see her take this on.
So who is going to knock "I'm Still Here" out of the park?

Loretta Swit would be awful. Did you see her croak her way through Drood? I did several times. I am thrilled she hasn't been on stage since...!
What do you mean Loretta Swit hasn't been on stage since DROOD? She continues to do her revolving repertoire of SONG OF SINGAPORE and SHIRLEY VALENTINE at convelescent homes around the country and she was glorious in the last year's revival of HALLALUJAH BABY at the Playtex Theatre Center in Denton.
This has made my day.

Patti LuPone has "Phyllis" written all over her. How awesome would that be hearing her belt out "Could I Leave You?"
Crosses fingers.
Patti LuPone would be a terrible Phyllis in my opinion, but she'd be a fantastic Hattie. With Clark's casting, Donna Murphy now makes more sense than ever to play Phyllis.
Murphy would be a superb Phyllis.
I'd kill to see what Carolee would do with the role. With Clark as Sally, Carmello wouldn't look too young.

Patti as Phyllis? I don't know, but I do have an itch to hear her sing "I'm Still Here" for some reason right now. After hearing Kate Burton sing "I Never Do Anything Twice" from Wall to Wall Sondheim, I thought she would make a fantastic Phyllis. Wouldn't happen though.
I am psyched about VC as Sally. Let's hope that casting continues to impress.

I love Follies. If only there was a part for Angela Lansbury.
my mouth just flew open so wide a bird could fly in.
can i say "yay"
But there is a part for Lansbury. More than one part actually, depending on how they cast it...
Karen Morrow and Mimi Hines come to mind.
Karen : I'm Still here
Mimi: Who's That Woman?
Morrow would be spot on.
Even though she may not be physically right, Mary Testa could sing the hell out of Phyllis.
I have a feeling Phyllis may be cast with a name.
