I have friends who play there, it's a black theater kind of show, where you have 8 artist: 6 people represents all the voices(alto, bass, tenor, and all that), and 2 beat box artist.
the story is 8 aliens crash on earth and they need music power to get their spaceship to get them back to planet voca. sounds silly, but it's an amazing show, filled with humor and impressive vocal talent.
They do a routine of 1000 years of music(starts from Bach, and goes into rock&roll) and many love songs and movie themes.
I saw the show when it first ran in Israel(where it's from) and loved it, here's a clip:

I'm embarrassed to say that a friend of mine from the cast pulled my on staged and it's on one of their videos(She looks at my pants and sings "lolley pop :P
They perform all over the world, I really recommend it
hope it helps:P

The show is great. Reminds me of Blue Man Group with singing. Fun for kids. Very entertaining.
Cool! Just noticed they were having an open call for singers, but it's like 4 days after they begin previews?

I caught this over the weekend, and wish I could have those 90+ minutes of my life back. The singers are talented, but the show itself is just awful and kind of creepy. I feel like my grandmother saying this but it was unacceptably loud. Again, not bashing the talented and hardworking group of performers, but I can't believe that this thing is running Off-Broadway. It's a Bar-Mitzvah act gone awry.
Is it all a capella?
edit: Just watched a youtube clip. I will have to pass on this one! I think it would drive me crazy.
It's not my cup of tea at all. It reminds me of the clown bits in Cirque du Soleil shows, which seem to charm most people, but I abhor. Also, the voices aren't as tight as they are cited as being. Some pitch and harmony problems which are even evident in some of the videos. Some people love it, but its not for me.
I saw this with my kids at the begining of the month. It was entertaining, parts of it were even interesting. The audience really ate it up; my kids loved it. Me? It was good...nothing more, nothing less. I think I would have had a far positive outlook had my kids not been joyous throughout.
My reccommendation: If you have kids, middle school and younger it's fun and worth it. (With some adult humor thrown in)
Betty, I would rather sit through the Cirque clowns than this.
I had a lot of fun at their performance in Houston last night...
BWW Review: VOCA PEOPLE - Thrills with Electrifying Energy
I have never seen them live, though I have watched clips on youtube. It looks fun, but I don't know if I would pay money for it.
The ticket I got as a reviewer was valued at $55.00. I felt they put on $55.00 worth of a show.

I must totally take my comments back k. Saw the show and loved it.
