Yeah, saying "yo me siento" is redundant and sometimes it seems like you're emphasizing the "I" too much.

But since the verb is sentirse, isn't it necessary to have the noun in front of it, to conjugate the "se"?

It is necessary, but honestly who doesn't know what that song is actually titled? If so, who else would Maria be singing about? Sure its an error, but I doubt anyone is confused or loses track of the show as a result.

I haven't taken Spanish in years, but as far as I remember, the verb being properly conjugated makes the noun unnecessary, so the yo is unnecessary. However, without the "me," "sentirse" isn't properly conjugated, so that much is needed.

Is there a matinee tomorrow (Wednesday)? Playbill.com lists a 2pm matiness, but Ticketmaster doesn't have anything listed. I want to know for sure before trekking down to the middle of DisneyNYC.
Found the answer on the show's website.

The noun Yo (I) is not needed in Spanish- Siento means I feel.
Yes, love, but she's saying that she feels beautiful, not that she's feeling something beautiful with her hands.
Again, Siento hermosa, makes no grammatical sense.

I think scott68 is right, but my Spanish is also a little rusty.

I know iI sound like a broken record but is the Dream Ballet still shortened like it was apparantly in DC? (Remember even for Jerome Robbins Broadway it was slightly edited).
And if Officer Krupke now has "like all new choreography" who's credited?

Yes, the dream ballet is still shortened...I still love it though (since i don't know what it is supposed to be).

did they have a little boy sing Somewhere? I really wish they got rid of that... although they probably didn't

The boy still sings Somewhere.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

How does the Lotto for this work? Is it student ID? What time is it?
#140
Posted: 2/25/09 at 11:44am
The lotto is not just for students; it is for anyone. You have to enter the lotto by filling out a slip w/name, number of tkts (2 max) and your zip code. You can begin putting your name in the bag 2.5 hrs before showtime, with the drawing 2 hrs before showtime. At about 2 minutes prior to the drawing, they stop taking names. But there really is no need to be at the theatre 2.5 hr prior, as long as you enter 5-10 minutes before the drawing, you are fine. It is not a "first-come, first-served" transaction. Tkts are $26.50 each, cash only, and photo ID is required. 18 front row seats are available on the lottery, so for the most part, that's 9 pairs, unless any of the lotto winners only want a single ticket.

And only on BWW could people not trust a native Spanish speaker to do correct translations. :P

What were the majors changes from Washington DC as to set design ? Is the famous zodiac thing still in ? Please tell me.

If you look deeper in the thread, a poster states that the zodiac thing isn't there anymore. Thank goodness!

Not only is Spanish my mother tongue, I also teach it and have a degree in it. If you can point out where I mentioned that I was not 100% sure, please feel free to do so.
Yes, "Siento Hermosa" DOES NOT mean "I Feel Pretty" - it could mean, in broken Spanish, just "Feel Pretty". She'd be singing "Feel prettyyy, oh so prettyyy..." and no "I".
Now, I would LOVE for you to explain "Latin languages" to me. (If you don't mind the extra humiliation, of course).
Romance Languages, yes, love?

Didn't we already realize that she sings "Hoy me siento tan hermosa," which literally means "Today, I feel rather pretty." That's Lin-Manuel Miranda's translation.

That makes sense. "Hoy ME siento..." is grammatically correct.
Some may think that discussing this is silly, but if they are going to use a translation, they might as well not assume that it could be wrong, mean nothing and just a minority would notice (especifically the minority that would actually understand the lyrics!)
Maybe the song is properly translated and the song list has the mistake (which could potentially be printed that way in a cast recording, and have the embarrasing mistake there for good).

I saw the show last night (Tuesday) from the front mezzanine and was fairly impressed. The sets, the lighting, orchestrations, along with the choreography were great. Karen Olivio is a "must see" in this role, she by far received the most applause, only matched by the bows of Matt and Josefina. Matt Cavenaugh and Cody Green gave me no reason to complain, they both fit well in their perspective roles, along with Curtis Holbrook. It was a nice change to see something more classical in the Palace Theatre besides All Shook Up, Lestat, or Legally Blonde. I will definitely see this production again.

I in no way retract my statement because I still think it's true, but whatever.
You still think what is true? That "old ladies" should be banned from lotteries because you want the ticket? Or that lotteries should be more discriminating and exclusive based on criteria that fit your own personal profile? I get that you're mad that you didn't win, but that is how lotteries work. If everyone wins the lottery who wants it, then it is just a cheaper price point. You know what else happens at lotteries? Mobs of local student tween fans of the show do the lottery as much as they can, paying the lottery price for seeing the show umpteen million times while tourists on a budget in town for a few days miss it entirely. Perhaps the local students should be limited on the number of times they can enter a lottery? Hmm?
If the old ladies weren't upset that some young people won the lottery whose parents could afford full price tickets, it sounds like those ladies were probably more deserving of the tickets anyway, but whatever.
