Our Barnes and Noble has the best selection here, all lumped together with the movies under "Soundtracks." Of course the quickest way to get the latest releases is Amazon--love that super saver shipping!

And BobbyBuddy, thanks for calling me an idiot. Yes, words do hurt.

I don't live very far from NYC. I went to three places, Best Buy, Borders and even the Virgin Mega Store in Times Square looking for PIAZZA. None of them had it. I went to Footlight.Com and ordered it from them. It arrived the NEXT DAY!

The Wal-Mart near me never used to have cast recordings. Then I was there a few weeks ago and discovered that they had gotten a surplus of them. They even had "Taboo"--a cast recording I couldn't even find in the "finer" music stores around here.

Why not just use amazon? Cheaper and they have a full selection.

Like some others, my Walmart actually has a fair selection. When I looked last, they had DRS, Spamalot, quite a few older ones, and alot of Wicked's. For the best selection, I still use the internet, though.

Yeah, either Border's or Barnes and Noble would be a good bet. I looked at a Barnes and Noble once and they had pretty much everything and (judging from the very good selection of movies they have), I would say that Border's probably has whatever you want too. One place I've never seen a cast recording is Target (I might've seen Hairspray maybe but that's it). Also, I don't know where you live, but I was in FYE the other day and they have a soundtrack/cast recording section and they have a pretty good selection...although they didn't have spamalot...

The thing about ordering online is the shipping in handling it. I bought a DVD at amazon.com and their S&H was 11.00.

I recommend that you shop from your local independent music store (if you're lucky enough to have one). If they don't regularly stock CRs, they can certainly special order anything you want. Also, you can pre-order new releases so that you get them on the 1st day they're out (just be sure to order your new releases at least a week before they come out, or it won't make it on the order).

Best place to pre order Cast recordings is amazon because sometimes you get them early. I got Spelling Bee Two days early and also got Sweet Charity one day early! It is great!

(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

The Walmart I frequent in New Jersey had the New Cast Recording of Assassins! I was so proud I almost wanted to buy it! But, I already own a copy!
