I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would love to see a Cats nom in Best Featured Actor. While Cats is....Cats...Tyler Hanes is delivering some excellent work as Rum Tum Tugger.
So any thoughts about Christian going up against himself in Lead Actor? I mean, I know Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a train wreck on the West End, but word is that it's been completely reworked and the man is magic in a bottle. And if he isn't nominated for Falsettos, we will have witnessed the definition of miscarriage of justice.

I actually thought he was the weakest in the Falsettos cast.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.
Just because this thread pushed me to make my personal predictions for all the categories (totally for fun and totally predicting that a lot of this won't end up being the case...) :
Best Actor in a Musical Christian Borle (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) Jon Jon Briones (Miss Saigon) Jake Gyllenhaal (Sunday in the Park with George) Andy Karl (Groundhog Day) Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen)
Best Actress in a Musical Christy Altomare (Anastasia) Annaleigh Ashford (Sunday in the Park with George) Christine Ebersole (War Paint) Bette Midler (Hello, Dolly!) Phillipa Soo (Amélie)
Potential Switchers (this is easily the hardest category, and my predictions change by the day): Denée Benton (The Great Comet), Patti LuPone (War Paint), Eva Noblezada (Miss Saigon)
Best Featured Actor in a Musical Josh Groban (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) David Hyde Pierce (Hello, Dolly!) Lucas Steele (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) Brandon Uranowitz (Falsettos)
Fifth slot TBD: possibly somebody from Anastasia?
Best Featured Actress in a Musical Stephanie J. Block (Falsettos) Jenn Collela (Come from Away) Amber Gray (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) Rachel Bay Jones (Dear Evan Hansen) Caroline O'Connor (Anastasia)
Potential Switchers: Mary Beth Peil (Anastasia), Jennifer Laura Thompson (Dear Evan Hansen) and/or Brittain Ashford (The Great Comet)
I doubt David Hyde Pierce will be placed in the Featured category. He's not above the title but I believe they'll petition him...they have Gavin Creel to contend in the Featured category.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Fascinating list! As a fan of COMET, though, I have to ask: Why do you assume that Josh Groban is the only reason this show is grossing over $1 million each week?
Jeffrey Karasarides said: "I don't know, but I'd be surprised if it was still doing just as good without a big star.

I guess the reason I ask is, there's really no proof either way that it's success is more because of Groban or because of the amazing reviews and word-of-mouth of the production itself. I think Groban definitely played a part in bringing people in, but now word-of-mouth is sustaining the show: when I saw Stangland go on recently, the house was still packed (and that's not easy to do in the Imperial!). Going by the Groban logic, we have no idea how well Dear Evan Hansen would be doing without Ben Platt- it seems to me that a lot of the press around that show focuses on him, similar to Cynthia Erivo/Color Purple.

Pretty far leap there. Many people I talked to at Comet were Groban fans who had no idea what the show was even about... he is a draw and he's in a show. Whereas no one is buying tickets to see Ben Platt based on name recognition alone.
