Was anyone else there tonight? There was a major automation problem during Act II. The Julia's room set piece tracked onstage for the scene before "If I Told You", spun all the way around and then clicked to a halt sideways with the exterior side facing stage right. Tina and Adinah turned to face the audience and tried to do the scene, but then a stage manager came on and quickly ushered them off stage.
Then, an announcement is made that they will be pausing the show and finally the house starts turning back to the correct direction. Tina and Adinah came back out and Adinah said "I knew we should have moved to Brooklyn", and then they finished the scene. Then as Kevin and gang entered the house stayed put instead of turning, forcing Tina to do all of her stage business facing audience. This continued during the song, with Tina singing out instead of being seen through the window.
After the song, the scene with Glen went on without a problem, Kevin stumbles off the stage and the transition music starts to play into "Let Me Come". Then the music fades and after maybe 30 seconds of nothing happening onstage, another announcement is made, this time stage management promises not to "make a habit of it". Nothing continues to happen and then the curtain lowers and house lights go up. Several minutes later an announcement is made that they will now continue the performance of "The Wedding Singer". The curtain rises to Robbie's room, the bed tracks on with Linda, and Robbie stumbles back onstage for the song.
After all that I'm sure the audience barely remembered Amy totally forgeting her line at the top of Act II. It was crazy.

I saw the show once with Laura where the bedroom set came out fine, but didn't turn. She did the entire song facing straight out into the audience (instead of through the window) and walked off before Glen came on, etc. Then the scenery went off-stage fine. That time it seemed like the turning mechanism just didn't work. This seems like the whole thing wasn't working tonight. It must have been an interesting show. Hehe...
nomdeplume- The last time I was there (this past Sunday) Tina still had the dress that did not match the dress in the bridal shop scene. I keep hoping that they have changed it to match every time I go and every time so far I have been disappointed to still see her in the old dress (not that the dress isn't pretty, it just doesn't match!).
I don't think Constantine starts until tomrrow (or tonight, being that it's after 12.)
Constantine was great! I really enjoyed him. He doesn't have the comedic timing that Matthew did, but we all kind of expected that, and it doesn't really make him any less enjoyable in the role. He seems to be really into his character- I noticed a lot of great little moments from him. And his dancing was fine- his "Single" was good.
And Tina is wearing the same dresses as always. Don't expect to be seeing her in anything else for awhile as the producers just don't seem to want to address the problem that is her costumes.
Munk- They put Constantine in early. He started on the 5th, but his real "opening" date (I guess you could call it) is still the 8th.
Write the producers!!!!!!!!!!!!
We need to get Tina a new frock.
What line did Amy miss at the beginning of Act II?

She missed her first line as "Dream Holly". I can't remember what she was supposed to have said, but I'm pretty sure it's not what she did say. Perhaps someone who has seen the show more than I have can let us know what the line is.

Lord knows this is going to cause a huge hoopla but I have a quick question that can be answered in a quick post- I hope that happens!
Can someone tell me the deal with Tina's dress? I've read the other threads with the "Tina's dress" issue and I cannot seem to understand the problem. I have seen Wedding Singer once, if that matters.

I think the main issue is that the dress she says she's 'meant to be married in' in Act 1 looks absolutely nothing like the one she's wearing in Act 2, when she's trying on her 'real' wedding dress.
I don't have such a problem with it, only because the Act 2 dress is sooooo pretty. And they can't change the Act 1 dress because then some of Robbie's comments about it would have to be cut. And I think we can all agree that the 'Do you think they bedazzled this?' line needs to stay put.

And Laura's Act 1 and Act 2 dress were much different?
What's the problem? Every bride goes through "oh my God, this is THE ONE!" dresses about 3 or 4 times before they finally settle on one. Think of it that way.

Haha, exactly.
And it's been so long since I've seen Laura, I honestly don't remember what the situation was with her wedding dress.

I can aruge in way of both:
First, it doesn't matter about the dress, suspend your disbelief, we're not dealing in reality here, normal people don't burst out into song.
Second, I could see why it could confuse someone, but at the same time, you can use the logic that maybe she found something better and was just sort of excited about the wedding when she saw the dress.

Thespian Geek, I agree. The same situation presented itself in the episode of Friends when Monica and the girls went shopping for her wedding dress. They fought and fought for a dress that looked NOTHING like the dress she wore at the end of the same episode. And that was television.
I think it's entirely possible for Julia to be wearing a different dress, as the mall bridal shop may not have been able to get the dress for her, or that she was so subconsciously finiky with her wedding with Glen that she changed her mind about the dress too.

Yeah, she probably decided on a new wedding dress
And poor Amy missed her line- I still love her a ton! The "Dream Holly" part has to be one of my favorite moments in the show! :) "ALL people, ALL people..."
With the dress thing. I could have sworn one night the dresses were the same but maybe I just wasn't looking carefully enough. Though the dress thing doesn't matter people do notice it. But I love the dress she tries on so its all good.
Amy did completely forget her line, but Kevin handled it very well and went straight into his next line "Is this about the money thing? I guess thats important to some people" and the scene continued on.
The set issue was resolved pretty quickly and all was well after about a 8 minute or so delay.
Constantine is actually really good, you guys! I don't give away compliments easily. I hated Haylie in hairspray, but mostly bc she doesnt have the same caliber of talent as the other people on that stage. Now, granted dancing is probably not constantine's strongest point, he sure as hell tries. And he looks exactly like 'Sammy' would trying to dance. it works very well. And he sings wonderfully, and is a great actor. His official opening is tonight, but he's been in the show since tuesday. go check him out, guys!

Constantine aside, I've been so wishy washy about seeing this show. Sometimes I think I really want to go see it, and other times I have to admit I begin to consider "is this one really going to be worth the price of admission".
Thoughts? Should I or shouldn't I. Money is a bit tight right now, and while I hate to make my decision based on the bank account, I have to choose my shows wisely.
