Weisslers plan on bringing SCOTTSBORO back for the Tonys??

Will they pay the entire cast to stay free during that time? Or will they need to go back into rehearsal with several replacements? have they booked a theatre yet (spring is only 3 months away)?

It would be nice, were it true, but it sounds really unlikely. And pointless to say.

If Broadway audiences weren't interested in seeing the show, what makes Barry and Fran think the rest of the country is eager to see it?

I don't think that they are counting on people being interested pre-Tonys. I'm guessing the Weisslers know that the show won't win any Tonys with it closing in December. But, if they can re-open right before the nominations happen, the show will be fresh in the minds of the nominating committee and the voters. They are clearly hoping it wins Best Musical and picks up an audience after that. If it had anything to do with artistic merit of the show, the would just focus on the tour and not worry about the New York return in the Spring.

I think this is very smart for them, and potentially worth the investment. They know they have the best score of the season already, and are in line to have the best direction/choreography as well. They are looking for major Tony noms.

They might be smart to use all this great buzz that is building with the closing, and keeping it in peoples' minds for spring. I, for one, would be thrilled if this reopens so I can see it.

How can they be "in line" to win direction and choreography when so many shows haven't opened yet? I enjoyed both aspects of the production, but to predict them to win in that category this early is foolhardy.

With regards to this idea, I'll be (pleasantly) surprised if this comes to fruition.

Nevertheless, the spring is when they should have opened in the first place.

Well I wasn't explicitly predicting them to win, otherwise I would have said they're likely to win. I said they're "in-line" to win meaning, imo, they're the ones to beat right now. Each spring show that opens will have to be either better or worse than Scottsboro; being the best of the 19 shows that opened this fall. Again, imo. Bottom line, I think it's worth the investment to bring it back for those reasons.

Also... Shouldn't every show open in the spring anyway?

Then what would happen when what's already open begins to close...We'll be left with the tourist traps.

I'd love to see Scottsboro take a theatre like the Broadhurst or something.

What I mean by "Shouldn't every show open in the Spring" is that if I were a producer I would NEVER open a show in the fall when the risk is too great it will close and/or be forgotten at Tony time. Then again, I wouldn't open ELF in April.

I doubt that a suitable theatre in terms of size will be available come April. First of all, Merchant might extend at the Broadhurst. Even if it doesn't, though, something will scoop it up.

I won't hold my breathe considering [title of show] said the same thing. we'll see what happens.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

WOW. Hard to say if he see the attention and praise the show is receiving as an indicator that this may have been a better Spring/Tonys show than a Holiday season show, or if this is just plain delusional.

The Weisslers do have a lot of their own money in it, as I think is only appropriate given the money Kander and Ebb have made for them.

I really hope this happens because I am devastated that I didn't get to see it. If it could just have held out till next weekend, when I can finally get to NYC, ugh I would have been very happy. So I hope it happens. But I'm not holding my breath.
