I wasn't here to get spoiled, unfortunately (or fortunately, maybe), so it's just my nerves. I keep thinking that I probably missed a letter and sent my PM to Whitboy Spice, who is probably a big mouth that goes to my school and is waiting to publish an article in the school paper.
Have I ever mentioned that I tend to get a little overly dramatic at times? Yeah, I hide it well, don't I?
I don't blame him for being weary of the board now. There are some bitter, hateful people here, to be honest. Not in *this* thread, of course, but you know what I mean. He was just trying to make sure he didn't become one of those untouchable celebrities and some people took advantage of that. It's really sad.
I don't think what went on here has anything to do with the notion of "untouchable celebrity." Whether he continues to post here or not, I'd be hard pressed to find ANYONE who can convince me that it's going to change the way Anthony is, or make him any less apt to openly connect with the people who love his work. I don't think a negative message board experience will cause him to become a snob, or anymore "untouchable." It just makes it a little bit harder, if he does stay away, to be as accessible as he could be, but unfortunately I think it comes with the territory.
People here use the fact that they are totally anonymous to say hateful, bitter things that I highly doubt they'd be confident enough to say if this were a real life room and they were standing face-to-face. They've taken the idea that an actor is "a person, too" to an extreme degree, and chosen not even to treat him with respect.
Anthony is one of the nicest people ever, and the fact that he takes the time to post here is just ..wow, when ever does anybody do that? I can't wait to meet him at the book signing.
I think it's awesome that Anthony Rapp posts on here. It definetly breaks down the barrier (barriar? Barriare? Hmmm...) that celebrities form between themselves and fans. Sorry if someone already said that, I didn't feel like reading 441 pages. Anyway, Mr. Rapp I just want to tell you I LOVE your work. All of my friends loved Rent. Even the racist homophobic ones said it was amazing, so it's pretty cool that you created something that can really reach people.
"We can't go in the fire swamp! We'll never survive!"
" Nonsense. You're only saying that because no one ever has."
I read: "He was just trying to make sure he didn't become one of those untouchable celebrities" as saying that being here was part of his attempt not to become untouchable, which yes, it is, but I also read that to say that if he doesn't post here, he's just as untouchable as the next celebrity who doesn't post on a message board. It's an unfortunate part of the territory.
You read a little more into it than I intended. I don't think he's untouchable. Not by a long shot. If he were, I don't think any of us would have even PM'd him in the first place. I do think he'll come back, if he ever actually left. I don't think he's a snob and I don't think he's an "untouchable" celebrity because of this (this meaning him being hesitant or perhaps just too busy to come here right now). I'm not good with words, so I don't try to have any hidden meanings in what I say. Believe me, I'm not that deep
He probably hasn't PM'ed anyone back because he's been, like, SUPER-busy, what with new movies and his book which is coming out next month and everything.

Exactly. I don't know if he's really left so much as just been too busy to post. Or maybe he's gone into full-on lurker mode for a little bit, complete with not being visible in the "Who's Online" thing.
He'll probably be back when his life calms down a bit.
yeah, me too! I've been obssessed with him (Don't worry, not in a stalker way, it's not like I'm hiding out in his bushes...) since october, and there was something I've been DYING to know.
