I saw it last week. It was absolutely mind blowing. One of the top theatrical experiences of my life.

Is a near 50 year-old Anita really necessary?

She's 50? NO WAY! She looks amazing! Could have fooled me. From the looks of it she fits perfectly with the rest of the cast.

Also, I'd prefer a "50 year old" Anita over Karen Olivo any day of the week. If you can't dance it, you can't play the role in my book.

massofmen- why? because they are doing the Robbin's choreography? I HATE the stupid assumption it has to be set in 2015 or in outer space to make it new. How about telling the story. And this looks like a gorgeous version. A hell of a lot better than that awful revival.

This may be the most perfect singing of the song "Maria" ever:

Is this in previews? Can't seem to find any reviews. When is opening night? I Googled and can't find it. Debating whether to go...not many tickets left.

Strange that the info really is nowhere. I searched their Twitter hashtag (#sigwestside) and found a December 6 Tweet declaring that evening's invited dress to be a success.

I haven't found the info either. There seemed to be some red carpet-type photos taken a few days ago...but still no reviews. I've got tickets for tomorrow night regardless.

Unbelievable! Truly one of the best evenings I’ve ever spent in a theatre. This team breathes life into one of the most brilliant musicals ever written. Often times this piece falls into the hands of people that only know how to make it feel tired and cliché (that terrible revival). It feels incredibly relevant and so important. I can’t speak highly enough of it. It’s mostly the Robbins choreography but it explodes off the intimate thrust stage in a way that’s impossible to describe. It’s wildly exciting. The gangs race above your heads on a surrounding fire escape structure. The Dance at the Gym is electrifying in this configuration. The Tony and Maria are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and heartbreaking. Natascia Diaz is in a league with Chita Rivera (I can only imagine) and Rita Moreno. The orchestra is phenomenal. It’s really sensational.

Is Signature in the round? I've never been there and can't really tell from the video.
I remember their Les Miz getting a lot of attention a few years ago, too.

One of the theatres in Signature is flexible, and they have the stage as a rectangle that the audience surrounds. Three sides of it have the audience, with fire escapes above (of course used during the show) with the fourth side housing the orchestra. If that doesn't make sense I can try to explain it more.
It's an amazing set that works really well with the show. I really can't express how incredible this production is.

Not quite a review...but a discussion about some of the staging. https://www.washingtonpost.com/express/wp/2015/12/17/audiences-feel-the-rush-at-signatures-intimate-lively-west-side-story/

Are you necessary? Anita looks great and she has gotten positive notices. Stop taking.

You must not have seen Jeremy Jordan play Tony.
