What Show Should Patti and Laura Do Next?

MOMMIE DEAREST - The Musical

Imagine LuPone, heaving her lungs out singing an aria all the while hacking away at the roses, in that flared gown!

Benanti having a great number in the hospital room as she witnesses Joan Crawford replacing her on the daytime soap. Brilliant!

LUPONE GREY GARDENS
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

LUPONE GREY GARDENS

I don't know if you're joking, but I actually would love to see Patti play old Big Edie in a revival in about 20 years.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

The Rink actually doesn't sound like a bad idea...Anything to get these two on a stage together.

I couldn't agree more! The Rink with those two is an inspired idea... and sort of like the recent "Night Music," casting, the replacement cast could be Liza and Leslie Kritzer!

Do they have to do something together? I mean I would love that, but maybe it is time they work apart.

Eh, why mess up a good chemistry? It's like catnip to the Tony nominators and voters.

I was just about to say Grey Gardens!

Seriously, Hello Dolly!, with Boyd Gaines.

Human Centipede: The Musical.

Patti gets to play the one in back who gets real sick. Laura gets to be in the middle. And BD Wong could be the Asian guy.

Just imagine Patti belting out something fierce while her mouth is planted against Laura's... well, you get the idea.

It'd be like Sweeney Todd but for more sophisticated audiences. Score by Larry O'Keefe. Anyone?

'NIGHT MOTHER has been the best suggestion yet.

If you want to do a gender-reversal, I say DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS.
