Im seeing Scotland PA and Oklahoma tomorrow. Its a day trip from DC so I wont have a hotel. What is there to do between shows that isnt eat? Typically we like to go sit in Central Park but the weather looks poor. We like art museums but MoMA is closed and I think the Met is a little too far.

There really isn't a lot of time to see anything too far away from the theatre district. I second the library near Bryant Park. This past trip I went inside for the first time. I started on a free tour, but ended up wandering the rooms on my own. The building and rooms were interesting and best thing it was free.
I love going to the Performing Arts Library up by Lincoln Center which is a little bit of a walk from the Circle in the Square but they always have interesting exhibits.
Agree that the main New York Public Library building is charming & worth the tour or wandering. There’s a fun art exhibit by Lucy Sparrow of all handmade felt items mimicking a deli shop - everything is for sale - on 6th ave around 49th (utilizing what would normally be a real store location). For something silly there’s Dave & Busters or bowling nearby.
I vote Hudson Yards and a walk on the high line if the weather isn’t too bad. And the Citizen M Hotel rooftop is great for pre-show drinks and great views.
Yes, the Prince exhibit is currently at the Lincoln Center library and you could spend a lot of time there - I did a quick pass through the other day on a lunch break and want to go back to really absorb it all. Aronson’s set models for Follies and Cabaret alone are worth the trip and there’s a lot more besides.
I’m going to second this, as silly as it is. I do day trips to see two shows all of the time (my bus leaves at 6:40am and I’m usually not home until 5:40am the following morning) and I have found that going to a move in between and getting something quick to eat is the best way to not be exhausted and stay cool/warm/comfortable.

Failing that, if you don't want to eat, then drink!"
I agree that it was fun. I did do it before I saw Oklahoma on an extremely hot day. Wasn't too crowded and easy to skip around if certain areas are being crowded.

Saks fifth ave is a little bit of a walk, (don't recommend the subway station there it is super slow & hot) but its fun to walk around a bit & they have really good macaroons at pierre herme.
I usually just sit in the lounge at the Marriott Marquis or wander around aimlessly doing nothing. Most of the time though I do eat as I never have time before my matinee.
Related there's a series on YouTube series called Broadway Sandwich where the host tags along with cast members to see what they do on two show nights between matinee & evening shows. Short answer is you can fit in a lot if you try! I usually use the time to check in my hostel, shower, rest my legs and recharge.
Also where do people like to drink in Theater District? Is HH/pre theater drink specials a thing bc I really need to stop buying $20-30 theater cocktails even if the souvenir cups are cute...
