What is the LOUDEST show you've ever seen?

I'm not sure if there has been a thread regarding this before, but I was just wondering, if there has ever been a show you've gone to where the sound was so loud it was actually painful. The only one that comes to mind for me lately is Tarzan, it was brutal. The only other show that got me to the point where I was going to leave was Dance Of The Vampires, "God Has Left The Building" was really LOUD!

It could have been where I was sitting, but "Tommy" was super-loud on Broadway.

Mamma Mia was REALLY loud. I sat in the 3rd row on the left in the orchestra (practically next to the speaker), and the beginning of Act II was really scary and painful at the same time, unfortunately, the sound was definitely not the only thing painful about the show if you know what I mean :)

I remember my ears weere ringing from Footloose, but that was back when I was 12, and I only have a somewhat foggy memory of it.

I don't really remember Hairspray being painfully loud, but Wicked definitely was, especially in Defying Gravity and No One Mourns The Wicked, No Good Deed was pretty loud too.

In the 80's, I actually thought "Carrie" was pretty loud for the time, now sound design is really out of hand.

It could've been because I was in the 3rd row, but BKLYN was looooud.

RENT has gotten really loud. It's always been a bit loud because of the rock nature of the score, but in recent years they've been turning up the mics to ridiculous levels. I don't know if it's to mask the mediocre voices they've been bringing in in recent years or what, but the levels on the mics are just out of control.

Wicked. It's probably because I was in row A. But the first note of No One Mours The Wicked, I jumped, even though I was expecting the note to be really loud.

Movin' Out and Mamma Mia! stick out to me the most, but I also remember having my ears hurt after Wicked. Gah. Loudness is ridiculous.

Since they've begun amplifying shows (a practice I hate), most shows are too loud for me. WICKED was really loud.

Try ear plugs. My fiance and I use them all the time. They also work great when you have annoying people talking around you.
