HAIR would be phenominal in the Eugene O'Neill, but my bets are that it will go to the Lyceum.
Fela! is most certainly headed to the O'Neill.

What are those shows that can't find financing going to blame it on now? (It's been "No Empty Theatres" for awhile.)
Now, they're going to be forced to say "Hey, No Money!"
ZuggyCringe, they already have. Those were the reasons cited for the scrapping of the Godspell revival and For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.

yeah, no extension for SA. if Hunter is signed through Jan. 18th, there's no way they hire and train and promote someone new. way too expensive. sad but true.

I still think Guys and Dolls really complicated things by not going in to the Neil Simon. I would have done it like this-
Guys and Dolls- Neil Simon
Hair- Nederlander
Vanities- Lyceum
Fela!- Eugine O'Neil

>I was just saying it SHOULD'VE gone into the Neil Simon<
But you are basing that decision, bwayfan9, on what the Nederlander Theatre used to look like when it was housing Rent. Seems like it will be a great house when they get through with the restoration. And as I've said before, now that the Nederlander's neighbors include The New York Times, the 42nd Street Hilton, McDonalds, New York Sports Club, the 41st Street exit for Mary Poppins, Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday's, a boutique hotel right next door, the NY headquarters for Ernst & Young and Reuters, and a revitalized 42nd Street subway hub, as well as street traffic to and from the Port Authority, the Nederlander Theatre may now have even more going for it as a venue for a show than the Neil Simon, way up on 52nd Street, where the district quiets down.

Posted: 10/25/08 at 8:13amThe transfer of the Donmar production was cancelled last season. This is a new production, to be directed by Des McAnuff, with choreography by Sergio Trujillo, and interestingly, produced by the West End producers of the Donmar production. Guys & Dolls opens March 1 at the Nederlander Theatre. So far, Oliver Platt as Nathan is the only casting that has been announced.

Posted: 10/25/08 at 8:29amI severely doubt HAIR will touch the Lyceum. It's a bit small, and quite frankly, out-of-the-way.

>I severely doubt HAIR will touch the Lyceum. It's a bit small, and quite frankly, out-of-the-way.<
Plus the facts that -
- The Lyceum has the smallest orchestra level on Broadway, meaning the least amount of full-priced, most desirable seats a producer can sell
- Hair has a cast of 27, and no musical that large has played the Lyceum since The Chocolate Soldier in 1940
and
- HAIR HAS THE SHUBERT
