Sadly, Bright Star will be gone later this month. What could be next?

I know you're joking, but when I was in London I saw the Tricycle Theatre Company do Ben Hur as a 4-person comedy play a la The 39 Steps (same people), which also happened to play at the Cort. Not saying it's going to transfer, but it's funny that you'd mention that.

Come from away? Or that could take the Lyceum.

It is indeed happening. I went to a benefit on Monday night and one of the guys in the show was performing.

Probably not happening so soon though. When Paper Mill won the special Tony they said in the Press Room that Bronx Tale is further along in development that Bandstand, and that is coming in in December. So if it's coming this season, I think it will more likely be in the spring.

I also think it'll be home to "The Bandstand", but what Iris said is interesting.

I don't have the link at hand, but Broadway.com reported that from the Press Room, it's in their Tony Odds and Ends, if you wanna look it up! Actually, there might even be video of that?

The Cort will also be taken out of commission soon for a gut renovation. It will be shut down while a lot to the construction takes place on that block.

The Cort needs it BADLY. It perhaps has the saddest facade of all the theatres. It and The Ambassador. The inside of the Cort isn't in great shape either, and I've heard not so stellar reviews of the backstage areas as well.

Hopefully they can fix that downstairs ladies' room so it's not such a colossal cluster. There are quite a few stalls but it's always so hard to get past everyone to get in and out.

Is the Cort theatre the only theatre in NY with such an odd layout? Of course the double-sided downstairs bathrooms being a noticeable one, but I've never walked into a theatre so small(again, is it really small or just a weird layout?) where the seats and stage area are just a couple of steps beyond the entrance door.

No one said a Bronx tale was going into the Cort. Iris just mentioned that papermill playhouse said a Bronx tale was in further developement. This could mean that they are putting all their focus on a Bronx tale and not bandstand.

Hope they spruce up that boring, tired marquee! But the facade I love! I don't know why someone said it was cursed? Fish in the Dark did just fine there. As did Fences. I think it's been proven that if it's a show someone wants to see, then they will find the theater. I mean look at Stomp or Blue Man Group.

The Golden is the same cramped layout. (Haven't been to the bathroom by referring to the seats just past the door.)

I think the Cort needs a renovation more than the Lyceum does. Just my opinion.
