Dreamgirls is really the only upcoming show that's ready and doesnt have a house, which would feel appropriate for this theater. Paddington has the Hirschfeld. I've heard Damn Yankees is looking at the Lunt. Those would be the only other two announced productions that would be a size/demand fit for the Majestic. So I highly suspect its Dreamgirls.

That's what Ive been thinking.I know a lot of people are saying it would go into the Imperial but Chess is running until September so it would have had to wait until Spring 2027.

That's what Ive been thinking.I know a lot of people are saying it would go into the Imperial but Chess is running until September so it would have had to wait until Spring 2027.
I would love for Dreamgirls to return to its original home. I could easily see a scenario where Chess closes in September, the Imperial gets a limited run play or holiday show, then Dreamgirls opens in early 2027. Or Dreamgirls could just open in late fall.

That would be a nice fit too!
I'm just not sure what other large scale shows are going to be ready to come in, and surely the Shuberts will try to not let it sit empty for long. There are shows like Dolly and Purple Rain that have the intention of coming in, but not sure where they are in the editing/rewriting stage that they were supposedly in. And there are things like Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil which wants to come in, but as far as I know has not been able to get their financing in place.

Obviously, plans do change (and i think approvals are still being sought....), but weren't the Shuberts looking to start a major reno to the interior of the Imperial after Chess closes?
I can see Dreamgirls working very nicely in the Majestic...........

I just saw a rumor on Facebook that a revival of Come From Away could be coming to Broadway to coincide with the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I don’t really believe it, but a concert version or some other event for the anniversary could feasibly be held at a theater.

I think it's part of Jamie Lloyd's deal to bring in Much Ado and then Evita at the Winter Garden.
