What theatre will "cursed child" take?

It has a cast of 35. Between that, the large set, and the demand, whenever this arrives on Broadway, you can bet it'll be in a larger house.

Surely something large, but at this point, with all the shows that could and will open or close between now and when it actually transfers, it would be hard to make a more specific guess.

Sonia Friedman Productions is owned by ATG, who bought the Lyric. I know its a 'bad theatre', but I would be that Harry Potter will end up there.

The Hudson when it reopens will have 950 seats.  Harry Potter is playing in a 1400 seat theatre in London. One would expect that they will be looking toward one of the mid to large sized musical houses.

I think people are assuming it's inevitable.  Word of mouth has been positive from London and it's sold out for what, the next year?  Harry Potter is huge in America and it's a lasting series--since new generations are picking up the books, watching the movie, and visiting the theme parks, it's shown that the product has staying power.  It would make a lot of money for the producers and creators.  It's a logical move.

The Hirschfeld could prove an interesting choice. I think the interior could help with the atmosphere.

Im going to London in Feb and stupidity thought I would have no problems getting a ticket this far out, how wrong I was.  

What ever theatre this takes it will be sold out on Broadway as well

It's a beautiful show and in London it is in the perfect theatre for it. The foyer of the Palace, with it's stunning sweeping staircases actually looks likes Hogwarts! 

Physically, it is a big show too. I imagine this will transfer pretty soon. Within the next year or two!

Yes, I think in terms of selling-tickets this is comparable to Hamilton. I was "forced" to buy tickets a year and a half in advance of the day I'll be seeing it, because I wanted to see it "soon"... soon now being 9 months after it opened. When tickets went on sale, initially only for something like 4 or 5 months, they sold out so quickly they added another couple months of tickets just a few hours later - at which point I decided I had to get in if I wanted to see it within the first year of its run. I have tickets for the weekend after my 30th birthday now, so it'll be a nice present to myself.

Tickets are currently only on sale though May, and are entirely sold out for Part 1, I think there are a few spare tickets here and there for Part 2.

 

I definitely think it will angle for one of the bigger houses, and they will also take appearance into consideration. I've seen photos of what they have done with the facade of the Palace in London, and I image they would want to do something similar once it comes to Broadway - i.e. I doubt they'll go into a house like the Broadway that is, sorry to say, kinda ugly on the outside.

 

And while there is no official confirmation of a transfer yet, it is definitely coming. J.K.Rowling always said this will eventually play all over the world, and that fans won't have to worry too much about having to track to London across half the globe (I'm from Germany, so London is easier for me than Broadway).

Keep in mind they haven't officially opened yet, I wouldn't expect any official announcement before the reviews are out.

I'd wager the Shubert after Dolly if they go for a Shubert house, the Simon if they go Nederlander, and the Hirschfeld if it a Jujamcyn house.

I think it will for sure come to Broadway, but I'm not sure in the next year or two in my opinion at least. It seems J.K Rowling is focusing on spreading it around the UK first, as she said on her Twitter that a  tour is already in the works.

Totally agree about the current (lack of) facade. However, after the redo, the entrance will be moved around the corner to 47th. If they're the first production (which we'd all expect in a long run) they could install some features to support the show when they build it.
