I've seen photos of what they have done with the facade of the Palace in London, and I image they would want to do something similar once it comes to Broadway - i.e. I doubt they'll go into a house like the Broadway that is, sorry to say, kinda ugly on the outside."
Totally agree about the current (lack of) facade. However, after the redo, the entrance will be moved around the corner to 47th. If they're the first production (which we'd all expect in a long run) they could install some features to support the show when they build it.

I bought my tickets on the priority booking day back in October for today. Just saw both parts and it was AMAZING. I'm still in awe at how they pulled off some of that stuff. Loved it. Have no doubt at all it will transfer but the staging is SO intricate I would imagine they'll need a year from announcement. Maybe fall 2017? Also, the Palace is a big theater but it's a small stage (although deep), actually. Ensemble not on there very often. St James would be perfect.

Are you talking the Palace? I think that's got the right ambiance for the show, but looks like the renovations might take too long. Or is the Broadway getting a redo? They need to drop that marquee.

Be sure that the Shuberts, Nederlander and Jujamcun are all in line vying to get this in one of their theatres, my feeling this will go into the August Wilson, with Jersey Boys running out of steam.
Nothing will be reported until after the London press night and assuming the critic are good, Michael Riedel will be all over this.

Frozen is going into the St. James, so that can be eliminated. They'd want foot traffic visibility, so I think the Shubert would be the ideal choice. I don't see this at the August Wilson. I can see it at the Neil Simon or even the Winter Garden.

I agree that it will be a long time until we know the actual theater. I'd expect to hear a vague statement about plans to bring it to NY, even perhaps specifying a season - and, later, which of the Shuderamcyn groups (or ATG) are involved, if they're partnering in the production.
Isn't the August Wilson a little small? ...and so far north.
I had never thought of the Palace stage being small, but I can see it now. One thing I've noticed is that the proscenium is so high that productions can seem lost in the vertical space (notably the meh revival of West Side Story) I know nothing of the staging in London, but they could conceivably make great use of that space for stairways in Hogwarts or for flying stunts.

Appearance-wise, which theatre do you think would work best? I think the Hirschfeld or Palace would work very well. For this show in particular, the look of the theatre will play a big part.

Yet another occasion where the perfect theatre is unavailable...

I think the Lunt Fontanne has a beautiful facade, as well as a good location and size. I have to admit I don't really remember the inside/lobby situation there. But with Charlie going in there it's likely it won't be available for a while.

"I wonder if the Ambassador Theatre group is looking at the church. I hope so. Hopefully at some point, the church will outgrow the theatre. They need to make them an offer they can't refuse. I know the church has no intention to leave (at the moment), I think everyone has their price.

I wonder if the the church would have taken $60 million to give back the Hellinger- Seems like a better purchase then the Ford/Hilton/Foxwood/Lyric

Or what if they swap the hellinger and the lyric so no show can go into that hanger again?

Apparently the main reason the church has not moved is because they have not found another place that would be suitable. I think that if the ATG, Jujamcyns... could find a new location for the church, they would move.

Unfortunately, with Frozen taking the St. James, I doubt anything is going in there for a LONG time.

Sorry guys, I meant the Palace in London, not in NYC. Their stage is the small but deep one I mentioned. The theater is STUNNING though, and that had to be part of the appeal for putting it on there--intricate detailing on everything and it looks like an extension of Hogwarts.

The Palace in London, was originally built as an opera house.
