Hello all,
I was taking a group of people into NYC to see Blue Man Group, Wicked, and Stomp in March. A snowstorm hit, and several people were not able to attend.
I now have 11 past date Stomp tickets, 20 past date Blue Man Group and 2 past date Wicked tickets.
Any suggestions on how to sell these at a discount rate? Or is anyone interested in purchasing?
Thanks in advance!

Maybe I'm missing something, but why would anyone want to buy tickets for show dates that have already passed?

To Past date them.
Shows allow unused tickets to be used on usually weekday performances subject to availablity.

Oh! That's good to know, thanks.
Selling past date tickets - for a show that occurred in March, no less- is one of the sketchiest offers I've seen on here.

That is really odd concerning the timing. I'd think someone trying to unload unused tickets would attempt to do so within the same month at least. Is it at the theater's discretion to not allow reuse of old tickets?

If the theatre or ticket company has a past date policy, it's certainly at their discretion. Roundabout allows day-of reservations only, and those are General admission- you're put into whatever seat is open just before curtain rises.
Ticket Master's past date policy is that a reservation can only be made Tues/Wed/Thurs, subject to availability, and the reservation is day-of.
No box office would be able to guarantee comparable seating.
Selling past-date tickets is an unwise move- you'd be paying for an indefinite reservation that's at the discretion of the theatre and has to be made day-of.
If "several people were unable to attend", how did you end up with 20 unused Blue Man Group tickets? Isn't that a bit more than several? And if some people had to cancel out, why wouldn't you have the same number of unused tickets for each show instead of 20 for one and 2 for another if you were taking them in to see all 3 shows. Sorry, but my Bullsh!t detector just went off. I wouldn't go near this with a ten foot pole.

Thanks for the explanation, Kad.
Yikes. If these things are only day-of with no guarantee, trying for rush tickets or lotto seems more reasonable...

Hi all,
Thanks for the responses - and to those who sent PMs, I will follow up.
I realize this seems sketchy, but I am a retired NJ middle school music teacher. I love theater and as a hobby, organize bus trips for friends/former colleagues to go into NY and see shows. It's not a money making endeavor at all - I do it because I love it. The day of the storm, the people in my group were all going to see different shows - which is why there are different ticket counts.
I waited this long to post about the tickets because I am just not very savvy with computers and wasn't sure what to do. My step daughter advised I post here asking for advice on what to do. (She's actually typing this for me right now.)
It's just an unfortunate situation all around.
Thanks again.
Yeah, it's a bad situation. I don't even know if you can show up with a ticket from March, they might have a limit on when you use those tickets. My advice is to eat the cost of them, or sell them at a very, very low rate ($20) to people. Most people will not buy them due to the risk. Good luck.

Is that true? So I tried to see Money Shot on Tuesday, I couldn't go because of an obligation. It was a TDF ticket. Do you think if I went to the box office they would let me see the show next week?
Did you call them? I honestly don't know, but last week is not the same as 7 months ago.
No, I just figured I couldn't use it. Same thing happened with me and Hand to God. It was a Tuesday 7pm and I got there at 8pm. Same damn theater. I'll call them tomorrow.

Sketchy? SKETCHY?!? You think it sounds sketchy?
It sounds like the biggest theatrical Ponzi scam since Rebecca.
You should change your screen name to Bialystock&Bloom.
