In her interview with Paul Wontorek, he asked her about whether 'night Mother is going to happen, and Audra said "no comment" in a very smiley, "wink-wink, nudge-nudge" kind of way (at least that's how I saw it). I'd guess that that's what is up next for her.

I hope that Adam Guettel or Jason Robert Brown (or somebody else talented) writes a new and startlingly original role especially for her, one that allows all her considerable talents to shine as brightly as possible.
I really hope she doesn't have to resort to anything less than she deserves.

Will and should are different things. I'd love to see her in a new piece, but she just blows my mind in revivals. Writing a new part for Audra would not be easy I imagine, despite the ease she shows in things.
I'm willing to bet it'll be good, regardless.

I know I've said this before, but with all the live theatrical events coming to TV, I would love to see Audra play the role of Amahl's Mother in AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS for TV. It would probably win her an Emmy.

Why does everyone forget that Audra was written a role by own of the best new composers? Michael John LaChiusa wrote the incredible Marie Christine for her, with a score that she vocally soars through. I thoroughly recommend the recording to any Audra (or theatre) fan. It's inventive, dark, and intoxicating. (The tragedy of the 2000 Tony Awards was both LaChiusa's Wild Party AND Marie Christine losing to the mediocre Aida).

Yes, THE WILD PARTY losing was a tragedy, but MARIE CHRISTINE not so much. Audra also originated the role of Kesa in SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE.

Wasn't Audra doing a reading of KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN? Or was that just someone's hopeful thinking?
I think she'd be fatastic as Mama Rose opposite Anika Noni Rose as Louise. It doesn't need to be an all-black GYPSY but the two of them would be phenomenal.

And interesting casting, as Anika Noni Rose is only two years younger than Audra.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.
