Cindy 013, I saw both Idina and Stephanie and although I liked Stephanie, Idina blew her out of the water. Idina's performance was nothing short of amazing.
Now back to the topic, Raul should have won the Tony for Taboo. I cannot wait until he gets what he deserves. I agree Chris Sieber is deserving. He was awesome in Into the Woods. Sherie Rene Scott is fabulous and is JLT.
"I wish the stage were as narrow as the wire of a tightrope dancer, so that no incompetent would dare step upon it." Goethe
I vote Tovah (she should have won for Golda's Balcony...what a shame...Rashad was very good in '...Raisin' but Tovah was simply breathtaking as Golda) and Jane Greenwood...should have won for '...Woolf'
I believeTim Curry is Tony-less so, if he is, he's on my list for sure.
Kerry Butler deserved two Tony nods and one win. She should have been nominated for BOTH Hairspray and Little Shop (more so Hairspray, though because '04 was a BIG year for leading women and it would have been hard for her to squeeze in among the stellar, stunning performances of Menzel, Cheno, Murphy, and Pinkins)...and she should have won for Hairspray...she may not have had a huge entrance like Krakowski but she can out-sing Krakowski any day.
Although he hasn't done many shows that have given him a lot of material to work with, Taye Diggs is a great actor/singer and should have a Tony.
Also, Stephen Schwartz deserves a Tony (probably for Pippin) and Winnie Holzman deserved one for 'Wicked'. Sorry, but she had a much harder premise/plot heavy story to deal with compared to Q and dealt with it very well. Between her and Whitty's books, there is no contest in my mind.
And finally, Janine Tesori. She should have won for Caroline as her score for Millie was mostly blah. Updated On: 8/11/05 at 05:48 PM
1) David Yazbeck: should have won in 2001 2) Frank Wildhorn: hopefully one day he will pull it all together and write a show that can be critically and financially successful 3) Michael John LaChiusa: same as #2 (but first no more rants about the death of the Broadway musical!)
A few performers:
1) Douglas Sills 2) Amy Spanger 3) Marin Mazzie 4) Brian D'Arcy James

Tim Curry is top on my list. What a talent, and no Tony's to show for it. And on the Spamalot line, Chris Sieber deserves a Tony too...and a slew of humanitarian awards, but nobody asked about that.
Streisand did win a special Tony Award in 1970, but she did lose both of the times she was nominated for a performance

Stephen Schwartz, definitely. Marin Mazzie, Toval Feldshah, Tim Curry all resounding YES! Also Alan Rickman (who was amazingly brilliant in Les Liaisons Dangereuse and Private Lives) and Daniel Davis for Wrong Mountain.
