Which Theatre For Hugh Jackman in THE MUSIC MAN: The Show

We initially (and erroneously) posted the Lyceum theatre on nytix as the venue for MM, after we got a bad tip - was a surprise to us though as the theatre is so small - but we got wind that tickets would be 2X normal price to make up the difference in wraps and the show would be cut down to accommodate the smaller theatre footprint. Obviously now that tickets have been selling for a while, that is not the case. Anyways, time marches on, the actual theatre is probably the Winter Garden - even though they are selling tickets, they are still not actually saying which Shubert-owned theatre it actually is, which is weird and have never seen before. Ever.

"'The Music Man: The Show' scheduled to begin previews on September 9, 2020 and officially open on October 15 at a Shubert venue to be announced"

Can anyone remember when a show in the past began selling tickets without disclosing the theatre? It is clear that they do not want to early-announce another show's close, but its a rather unique situation. Any thoughts?

I heard The Cape Cod Melody Tent but I fear that might be erroneous.

Interesting question- No- I cannot recall another show selling tickets to a show without disclosing the theater. I think you are fight that they do not want to say Water Garden because they do not want to ruin the chances of a show currently playing- Beetlejuice is doing good business at the Winter Garden so that might not be the venue when it is finally announced- but I also wonder where it will be. Got tickets very close- first two seats on the aisle of the left hand aisle.

i dont understand how you can legally sell tickets for an event like this with no disclosure what so ever of what theater it is in?

This isn't much different from a subscription season that I get. Shows can be in any one of 3 (sometimes 4) theatres, and they sell tickets based on only one theatres' seating chart. I have front balcony. So, I can be front row balcony at one theatre, back mezzanine in another, or 4th row balcony in the last one. It's all a gamble.

Similarly when a subscription package gets sold with one, or sometimes even multiple, shows as “to be announced”

I believe its all fine legally, as their still guaranteeing you a ticket. Nor do I think (or would like to think) that if you bought something along the Sid orchestra. that it then wouldn't become partial view at whatever theatre it ends up in. They know what they're doing, so don't worry too much about it. If you're that worried id just wait until a theatre is announced to grab tickets. Which is what I'm doing.
