Which soundtrack are you currently listening to on repeat?

After months and months of Hamilton, I've finally moved on.

On my recently played (over and over again):

Waving Through a Window (the one song, on repeat -- must have the rest of Dear Evan Hansen!!)

followed by: In the Heights, American Psycho, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Bonnie and Clyde, Heathers and The Last Five Years (movie)

Surprisingly, I find myself listening to Roundabout's 20th Century every week or two. I'm even semi-addicted to the title song:

Onnn.... the Twentieth Century

                                       Onnn.... the Twentieth Century

                                                                            Onnn..... the Twentieth Century.

I hope Roundabout makes the show available. I think that it will be a long time before Broadway sees it or its ilk again.

I finally saw Something Rotten a month ago, and the OBCR has been in heavy rotation since then.

I've mostly recovered from Hamilton mania, but so many of the songs are perfect for the gym (My Shot, Right Hand Man, Guns and Ships, The Schuyler Sisters, Non-Stop). Hairspray and Legally Blonde are also in my workout mix.

Other faves: Fun Home, Spring Awakening, Once, Bridges of Madison County.

I've been listening to the Something Rotten cast recording non-stop since I saw the show last Saturday, and I've also recently started listening to the School of Rock OBCR. I love the Hamilton OBCR, but I'm trying to force myself to stop listening to it because I have tickets to see it (for the first time!) in December and I don't want to be sick of it by then (if that's even possible).

The albums I usually keep on rotation are:

Rent - OBC

Wicked - OBC

Ragtime - OBC but also the recording of Back to Before from the 2009 mini-album

Hamilton - Didn't listen to the soundtrack prior to seeing the show because I knew I would kill it without being able to enjoy the musical in person

Hedwig - Switch back and forth between the OBC and the movie soundtrack

Parade - OBC but also love the Donmar recordings because of all the dialogue that was preserved!

Evita - OBC

Cabaret - 98 Recording

Also, not a cast recording but a pretty good playlist, has anyone out there listened to the official "Alan Cumming's Showstopper's" playlist on Spotify? I just discovered it today and it's a great compilation of some of his favorite songs from shows and musical film adaptations. He also provides a little bit of commentary about his favorite songs. Worth a run-through.

I've pretty much been switching off between Hamilton, The Color Purple and Waitress these days :)

Hamilton has pretty much been my absolute go-to since I first got it in September, but after this many months now I do sometimes need to switch it up a bit haha. I still adore it to no end, but I adore it even more when I give myself little breaks from it.

Waitress I just finally got last week and have been loving! It's such a fun/beautiful score- I love Sara's concept album so much as well (in fact for a few of the songs I do prefer her version, but the cast recording's still great).

And Color Purple, while there are a few songs I'm not quite as crazy about and will sometimes skip, Cynthia and JHud and Danielle have some of my favorite voices ever so I love listening to it just for the vocals alone!

Some of my other long-standing go-tos are:

- Next to Normal

- Tick, Tick...Boom!

- RENT

- Hedwig (not gonna lie, though- the bootlegs > just the songs alone, only because the script for the show is just as brilliant as the music)

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
