Tyne Daly was an ABSOLUTE joy after "Master Class". Such a GREAT actress!!! Christine Ebersole invited the few of us into the stage door during "Grey Gardens". It was a frezzing January night. Of course, as already mentioned, the cast of "The Normal Heart".
I agree with defending Patti! When I stage doored she came out and there was a group of French tourists who told her that they came to the US to see her. She hugged all of them, told them how honored she was and took a picture with all of them and checked the pictures to make sure they were good.
On another note, Sierra Boggess was also super sweet.
The first time I stage doored was three weeks ago, at Bonnie & Clyde. The cast was amazing! They were warm, open and appreciative. The best thing for me was to feel their love for this show and to feel the shared excitement that reverberated between the cast and audience members. I had a very moving conversation with Laura Osnes that meant a lot to me.
Oh and how could I forget to mention April Oritz, Kyle Beltran and Arielle Jacobs? I saw a matinee of In the Heights in Buffalo in January 2010, and went to the stage door. It was literally 20 degrees out and I only had on a sweatshirt. I waited anyway, and April came out (she was on for Daniela that day), and said "you poor young man! Just come on inside, and wait, I'll see if I can get Kyle (Beltran) to come and sign your poster!" She brought me back into the backstage lobby area, and went into the wings and said "Hey everyone come out and sign this young man's poster, he's been waiting for us out in the snow!!" and about 10 people came down including Kyle, Arielle, and Rayanne Gonzales, and they all signed, but Kyle and Arielle literally spent 20 minutes talking to me about college and theatre and where the tour was going etc etc... they were SO friendly.
Bff and i waited a stupid long time for Becki Newton after Girl Crazy at City Center. It was freezing out and we waited a little while and then thought about leaving and it was that thing where we had already been there for so long we might as well stay. I think we ended up waiting an hour 45. It was the night they have the party and we knew that but just decided to wait. When she did come out she was so, so, so nice and also (rightly so) thought we were a little nuts
Without bread we'd just be hungry
but without theatre we'd be dead
Tony Shalhoub after "Lend Me a Tenor" looked exhausted but was very nice. (Poor man, I hope we didn't wear him out further.) Really, everyone I've met has been nice.
Several years ago, at "Les Mis" in D.C., a fire alarm went off and, even though it turned out to be something very minor, we all had to wait on the sidewalk for some time. The cast mingled with the audience and were fun and chatty, and signed autographs. I think the audience was very pleased in the end that the fire alarm had gone off.
To name a few: - Dame Edna - Laura Osnes (for both SOUTH PACIFIC and BONNIE & CLYDE) -Benjamin Walker (*swoon*) - Kathleen Turner - Tom Wopat - TYNE DALY (OMIGOD, She looked so grandmotherly and was just as sweet that I forget she was just playing opera tyrant Maria Callas) - Danny Burstein (such a doll) - EVERYONE AT LYSISTRATA JONES (Especially Liz Mikel)

Ben Walker, Jeff Hiller @BBAJ Hugh Jackman Dan Radcliffe (what a class act, being the lead in the biggest franchise of all time has not made him a total d'bag) Tyne Daly @ Masterclass Nina Arianda @ Venus In Fur (we waited forever for her and hugh and she felt so bad she gave us all hugs for waiting lol) Nick Blamier & George Salazar @ Godspell
Two feet of snow on the ground and I kidnapped a friend and we went to see Chita Rivera in Kiss of the Spider Woman.
No taxis...very little pedestrian traffic...beautiful multi colored Times Square Neon glowing in the white snow. You could walk straight up Broadway without an auto in sight.
A quick stop to TKTS for cheap seats. There were only 300-400 in the audience and yet the show energy was great. I love how warm and glowing Broadway theaters are on the inside when it's totally winter outside. And how appreciative a cast is all throughout a performance when they know you've taken all that extra time and trouble to come and see a show in emergency condition weather.
When the show was over, my Latin friend wanted to meet Chita and so did I. Her limo pulled up and after the majority of the cast and crowds had long gone, there were about 4 people waiting outside the Broadhurst stage door.
Finally Chita came out and she was the most elegant soft spoken woman I'd ever met. She stood in the 17 degree weather to talk to me at length while her broadly smiling chauffeur stood next to the door of her limo, patiently waiting to help her in. Astonished that she froze her tail off for me, I quickly fished a $20 out of my pocket and gave it to her for BC/EFA for being so sweet to me. She smiled and said it wouldn't be fair to take my money right there, but was touched by my offer. I got a quick photo with her and then she was off.
I remember how quiet and empty the street was when the limo left. A Broadway Winter Wonderland. :)
Cristin Milioti was an absolute sweetheart at the Once stage door, even though she was running crazy late. I just wanted to tell her how fantastic I thought she was, and she was very kind, humble, and gracious.
I have been lucky to have met so many nice people. The entire Legally Blonde cast, most Wicked cast members, Kristin Chenoweth, Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty, Hunter Parrish, Alice Ripley, the entire cast of Hair, both the Broadway replacement cast including Diana DeGarmo, Ace Young and Annaleigh Ashford. Ace gave me a hug and Diana gave me a hug and Annaleigh took a Mad Props picture with me. And the tour cast, Kacie Sheik gave me a hug too.
The entire cast of Godspell (excluding Morgan James...) (especially Lindsay Mendez, Telly Leung, Hunter Parrish, and George Salazar.) Celia Keenan-Bolger Rory O' Malley Pearl Sun (on the touring cast of Next to Normal)
OH! Plus, Kait Kerrigan, Brian Lowdermilk, and Mogan Karr. They were also all very sweet. (I met them at a You Made This Tour concert, so I totally forgot to add them to my list.)
David Masenheimer when he was in Le Miz Franc D'Ambrosio in Phantom Mitzi Gaynor on the road and Lucy Lawless wins hands down, she had me back to her dressing room after the show
Hugh Panaro came on stage in his bathrobe to meet out student group after a matinee :) Nikki M James is a sweetheart Andrew Rannells All of the Mormon Boys Daniel Radcliffe is great Rachelle Rak Tom Wopat Nick Wyman Kerry Butler
Julie White Janet McTeer Lucy Liu (Who knew?) Eddie Redmayne Julianne Moore Kevin Spacey Cherry Jones Alfred Molina Cheyenne Jackson Kerry Butler Tony Roberts Laura Linney Geoffrey Rush Susan Sarandon Rupert Everett Aaron Tveit David Hyde Pierce (Hall of Fame!) Constantine Maroulis Mary McCormack Mark Rylance
Very Good considering there were a lot of people: Hugh Jackman, Daniel Craig, Samuel Jackson, Angela Bassett, Cast of "The Normal Heart"
